Voters go to the polls for primary election – June 11

If you haven’t voted early or absentee already, in person Republican and Democratic Statewide Primary voting will take place next Tuesday, June 11.
Early Voting for the Statewide Primary will be available at two locations in Anderson County through June 7. Early Voting will be held at the Anderson County Election office, 301 N Main Street in Anderson and the Powdersville Branch Library, 4 Civic Court in Powdersville. Hours for early voting are 8:30 am to 5 pm through Friday.

Area voters will be deciding who will be running for the U. S. House District 3 seat in the Nov. 5 General Election. Congressman Jeff Duncan, who has held the seat since 2011, is not running for re-election. U.S. House of Representatives serve for a two-year term.
On the Republican side, seven candidates are vying for the opportunity to run in the General Election for the US House District 3 seat, likely resulting in a runoff. Primary voters can choose between Sheri Biggs, Kevin Bishop, Mark Burns, Franky Franco, Phil Healy, Stewart O Jones or Elspeth Snow Murday.
The Republican winner will face one of two candidates who are running in the Democratic primary, Bryon Best or Frances Guldner.
Local voters in The Journal readership area will also decide several SC House races.
Incumbent Jay West is facing challenger Lee Gilreath for the House District 7 seat, which covers Cheddar, Belton, Honea Path, Starr, Iva to Anderson.
Three candidates are vying for the House District 9 seat on the Republican side. They are Blake Sanders, James Galyean and Rick Bradshaw. Rep. Anne Thayer, who has held the seat since 2010, is not running for re-election. House District 9 covers the area on either side of US Highway 29 from Anderson, Hammond area to Williamston, West Pelzer and Pelzer.
House District 10 incumbent Thomas Beach, who has held the seat since 2022, is facing challenger Pam Anthony. House District 10 extends from West Pelzer to Piedmont, Powdersville into Pickens County and a portion of Greenville County along Hwy. 123.
House District 6 incumbent April Cromer, who has held the seat since 2022, is facing challenger Kyle White. House District 6 extends from Hwy. 76 to Hwy. 86 and includes Pendleton, Sandy Springs, Piercetown and Powdersville area from the Pickens County line to just south of I-85.
Anderson County voters will also decide who will serve as solicitor and coroner.
Micah Black, Beth Blundy and Danny Fulmer are running for the office of solicitor.
Incumbent Coroner Greg Shore is facing a challenge by James Hayes.
