While most main roads in the area including Hwy. 8 and Hwy. 20 were fairly clear of snow and ice Tuesday morning, many backroads still had icy spots. Courtney Street between Pelzer and Williamston was still covered and treacherous to drive. Low overnight temperatures around 25 degrees also contributed to black ice on some roadways. Warming temperatures and sunshine should help melt what remains on most roadways, however cold temperatures Tuesday night could result in more black ice, officials said.
Greenville Street in Piedmont still had ice on it Tuesday morning.
