Williamston Town Council to hold public hearing and special called meeting

Williamston Town Council will hold a special called meeting and public hearing this Thursday, Jan. 20 at 3 p.m.
The meeting is being called to hold two public hearings and to address three other items.
Public comments will be taken on rezoning property on First Street and regarding a South Carolina Parks, Recreation and Tourism (SCPRT) Grant.
The East First Street property, Lots 41 & 42, approximately .56 acres are currently zoned R-3 Single Family and Duplex Residential. The applicant is requesting to rezone this property to R-7 to allow for the construction of 3 new homes.

Business items on the agenda include second reading on an ordinance to rezone property on East First Street, second reading on an ordinance to sell a piece of land in Gatewood Subdivision and second reading on an ordinance to sell a strip of land to Ingles.

The town owned property at 107 Gatewood Subdivision includes lot 23 and 24 which are being sold for $15,000.

The piece of town property located next to the police department is being sold to Ingles. The property will be used for a required 1500 gallon “grease trap” for the Raines on Main restaurant. The six foot strip of property is being sold for $3,342.
