House fire under investigation – Irby Road

Firefighters from three departments battle a house fire Tuesday night on Highway 81 near Irby Road. When Piercetown firefighters arrived two minutes after receiving the call flames were coming from the roof of the home. The occupant had made it out of the burning home. Three and Twenty and West Pelzer firefighters assisted in extinguishing the fire. Pelzer EMS also responded to the call. A fire investigator was called to determine the cause of the blaze. Dollar General armed robbery

 Anderson County Sheriff’s Investigators investigating an armed robbery of the Dollar General store at 3309 Pelzer Highway, Easley. The robbery happened Friday night on Highway 8, or Easley Highway, in the Three and Twenty community According to reports the robber brandished a silver handgun and demanded the clerk give him the money from the register. After taking an undisclosed amount of cash, the suspect left on the store on foot. No one was hurt and no shots were fired.

Slabtown Convenience Center now officially open

The northern end of Anderson County now has a new, modern, and spacious convenience center. The cramped, dangerous facility on Three and Twenty Road is no longer in use. The new Slabtown facility opened with a ribbon cutting ceremony last Thursday. Located on Pickens Road, which runs off of Highway 88 alongside the Slabtown convenience store, the new facility accepts a wide array of recyclables, as well as several automotive waste products, like antifreeze, that many other facilities do not accept.

Hwy. 8 improvements planned in Powdersville

 East Church Road closure

The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) along with S & S Construction, Inc. of Anderson are improving the intersection of SC-8 with East Church Road, St. Paul Road and Three and Twenty Road. As part of the improvement process, East Church Road will be closed from SC-8 to Cynthia Lane.

Firefighters assist in shuttling water to AnMed

Traybon Court home heavily damaged – Powdersville

SWAT team responds to incident

Anderson County Sheriff’s Deputies, Anderson County SWAT team and other law enforecment officials were dispatched to a residence on Maycaw Drive in the Three and Twenty Community Thursday evening. According to reports, a homeowner reported the house had been entered and burglarized and responding deputies thought there may be an intruder still in the house or attic. Here SWAT team members prepare to go into the home.

Downed electrical line causes fatality

Three and Twenty firefighters responded to a call of a grass fire Thursday night on Christopher Lane. When they arrived they found a 16 year old girl inside the fire, in contact with a live electrical line. She was pronounced dead at the scene by Anderson County Coroner Greg Shore. She apparently saw the fire and went out to investigate when she came in contact with the live line according to Shore. A squirrel had apparently gnawed on the connection at the top of the pole before the line smoldered and eventually fell to the ground. Pelzer EMS also responded to the call. (Photo by David Rogers)

Accident traps two

Occupants of two vehicles await Pelzer EMS and Three and twenty firefighters on Sunday afternoon at the intersection of Highway 81 and 86. A car and truck collided at the intersection trapping two people in the vehicles. Emergency personnel had to do a “door pop” to free the two. Two people were taken by EMS to an area hospital. Motorcyclist hits deer – Melton Rd.

A motorcyclist struck a deer Sunday night on Melton Road near Sargent Road. The driver was checked at the scene by EMS but declined to be transported to the hospital. The driver was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. There was no information available on the deer. Walker – McElmoyle firefighters assisted EMS and did traffic control at the scene. Slabtown to get new convenience center

The existing Slabtown convenience center on Three and Twenty Road is slated to be closed and torn down sometime next year. But a new, larger and updated center will replace it in a new location, said Greg Smith, the Anderson County director of environmental services.

Hit-and-run driver facing multiple charges

Injuring Williamston Police Officer

The man charged in a head-on hit and run accident which injured a Williamston police dispatcher Sunday evening has been arrested and is facing several charges.

Valvatrez Leeshaun Lomax, 23, of Greenville, is charged with driving under the influence, driving with a suspended license, hit and run and simple possession of marijuana.

Driver pinned – Hwy. 88
