The Pelzer Heritage Commission will sponsor the 1st Pelzer Fall Festival on Saturday, Oct. 13 from 10am-5pm in the Pelzer Monkey Park behind Bi-Lo located on Hwy. 8 and Hwy. 20.
The family oriented event has free admission. Parking will be available across the street from the Monkey Park at Pelzer ball fields and at old Pelzer Elementary School on Lebby St.
The festival will feature a Cruz-In… from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with DJ Wayne Wheeler featuring oldie and goodie songs. All makes and models of vehicles are welcome.
Saturday will be wrist band day for children with rides on a trackless train, bounces and slides. There will also be free face painting.
Food Vendors will include hot dogs, barbecue plates, funnel cakes, sausage dogs, cheese fries, tacos, chicken on stick, quesadillas, roasted corn and baked goods.
There will be craft vendors with homemade items such as aprons, children’s hats, jewelry, scarves, gourds bird houses, yard wood items and more.
There will be business, church and non-profit groups with displays at the event.
There will be live entertainment with singing under the outdoor shed including the Living Water Church, Countless Flow, Dwayne Caple, Living Truth, All For Him, Catlin Tierce, K&M Dance House and Light in Dark Corners bluegrass.
Due to prior incidents, dogs will not be allowed in the park during the festival.
The Pelzer Heritage Commission will have Pelzer T-shirts, Pelzer Tales book, pictures and other items on sale. The Pelzer Fall Festival is a fundraising event for the Pelzer Heritage Commission.
Proceeds from the festival will help with improvements of historical sites in and around the Town of Pelzer.
The Pelzer Heritage Commission was formed in 2009 and is made up of people who grew up in the small town of Pelzer. The group is dependent on donations and funds from selling Pelzer related items.
They recently published a book entitled “Pelzer Tales” which consists of memories of the years spent growing up on the Mill Hill of Pelzer.
The Town of Pelzer, like many other mill towns, has fallen on hard times in recent years and the goal of the Pelzer Heritage Commission is to preserve some of the history and precious memories of life growing up in the wonderful little town.
Projects the PHC has been involved in include cleanup and repair of the old Wilson Cemetery including making new crosses and adding electrical work to the park.
