Emergency response officials including Williamston EMS, Cheddar Fire Department and SC Highway Patrol at the scene of a two vehicle accident at the intersection of Garren Road and SC Hwy. 20 in the Cheddar Community Friday afternoon. One person was fatally injured in the accident involving a Rollback and a pickup truck which happened around 1:45 p.m. The pickup truck ended up in the Cedar Grove Baptist Church cemetery. Allen Ray Manley, 63, of Williamston was killed in the accident.
According to Anderson County Coroner Greg Shore, the cause of death was blunt force trauma. According to reports, Manley was not wearing a seatbelt.
Shore said it appeared that Manley’s yellow Chevrolet S-10 pickup pulled in front of a flatbed rollback driven by Sammy Ellison. Ellison was transported to AnMed Health Medical Center, but did not have serious injuries.
The accident is being investigated by the SC Highway Patrol.
