MAMIE WILLIAMS
Mamie Williams, 80, of Piedmont, died Sunday, August 25, 2013 at her home.
A daughter of the late Charles Albert Williams and Helen Seaborn Williams, she was a member of Flat Rock Baptist Church and a homemaker.
She is survived by a sister, Willa Grace Williams of Piedmont.
Funeral service was held Friday, August 30 at the Flat Rock Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

LENORA GANTT
Lenora Willimon Gantt, 90, widow of James Robert Gantt of Pickens, died Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at her home.
Born in Pickens County, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Dora Lee Smith Willimon.
She retired from Ryobi Motor Products in Pickens and was a member of Martin Grove Wesleyan Church.
Surviving are her daughter, Linda G. Wingo of Piedmont; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Willie Mae Chapman; and a brother, Bill Willimon, both of Six Mile.
Funeral service was held Friday at Dillard Funeral Home in Pickens. Burial followed in Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens.

SUSAN COKER
Susan Frances Bigham Coker, 65, of Pelzer, wife of Billy Bruce Coker, died Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at Hosanna Health and Rehab in Piedmont.
Born in Greenville County, she was the daughter of the late George and Frances Garrett Bigham.  She was a homemaker and a member of Washington Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to her husband of the home are son, Brian Coker of Simpsonville; daughters, Deanna Nelson of Charleston, Renee McCrary of Belton; five grandchildren; brothers, Clayton Bigham of Fountain Inn and Robert Bigham of Pelzer.
Graveside services were held on Thursday at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

MARK JONATHAN SULLIVAN
Mark Jonathan Sullivan, 56, of Piedmont, husband of Kay Anderson Sullivan, died Tuesday, August 27, 2013.
Born in Greenville, he was a son of the late James Addison and Elnora McCrary Sullivan.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, was employed at Big Lots and was a member of Everlasting Covenant Church of Greenville.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a brother, James “Jimmy” Sullivan of Fountain Inn; stepdaughter, Courtney Carter of Greenville; and three grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Saturday, August 31 at Everlasting Covenant Church. Burial followed in Woodlawn Memorial Park.

JAMES O’NEAL EVANS
James O’Neal Evans, 80, 0f Piedmont, died Thursday, August 29, 2013.
Born in Danielsville, GA, a son of the late Dupree and Alice Garrett Evans.
He was a retired lumber salesman and a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a member of River Road Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Nancy Crowe Evans; two sons, James O’Neal Evans, Jr. and Mark P. Evans, both of Piedmont; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Monday, Sept. 2 in Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown Chapel. Burial followed in Woodlawn Memorial Park.

ROSEMARY WOMACK
Rosemary Jones Womack, 63, of Pelzer, died Friday, August 30, 2013.
Born in Anderson County, she was the daughter of the late William Cecil and Mary Jordan Jones.
She was retired from K-Mart and a member of Living Water Church.
Surviving is brother, Jimmy Jones.
The funeral was held Sunday, September 1 at Living Water Church.
Entombment followed at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum, Anderson.

MILDRED S. GANTT
Mildred Sheriff Crawford Gantt, 86, formerly of Easley, died Thursday, August 29, 2013 in Marietta, GA.
Born in Anderson County, the daughter of the late Ralph B. and Marie Blackston Sheriff, she retired from Alice Manufacturing and Robinson Funeral Home.
She was a member of Secona Baptist Church.
Surviving are two sons, James H. Crawford, Jr. of Marietta, GA, and Douglas N. Crawford of Williamston; stepson, Harvey L. Gantt of Matthews, NC; two step-daughters, Donna Albertson and Gail McCall, both of Easley; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her first husband, James H. Crawford, Sr. and by her second husband, Almond Grover “Junior” Gantt.
Funeral services were held Sunday in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown. Burial followed in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Anderson.

DAVID CHASTAIN
WILLIAMSTON – David Ramsey Chastain, 97 year-old Williamston resident, died early September 1. He will be laid to rest at Holly Springs Baptist Church Cemetery at 3450 Table Rock Road in Pickens on September 5 at 10a.m.  The family will be receiving friends September 4 at 5 p.m. at Gray Mortuary in West Pelzer.
David Chastain was always helping someone in need, whether it be family, his students, or the community. A vocational agriculture teacher, he was named County and State Teacher of the Year, a retired  Colonel in the Army & National Guard, founder of Williamston National Guard, WWII Veteran, Honorary Mayor of Williamston, and recipient of the Order of the Palmetto (the highest civilian honor in SC). He helped create countless recreational amenities and improvements to Anderson County as a tireless and dedicated volunteer. Most of all though, he was a humble, loving man who epitomized the values of hard work, honor, kindness, and strength.
David Ramsey Chastain, son of Elijah Denton and Ida Hendricks Chastain, for more than 50 years was married to Margaret Littlejohn Chastain who predeceased him. Survivors include daughters, Grace Shafir-Reiss (Bob Reiss) and Elizabeth Chastain (Jim Crisp). Grandchildren include Nicole, Melody , Jereann, Georgeanna, Rob, Jerry, and Mark, Great-grandchildren Mavi, Sophia, Lena, Nick, Allison, Stephanie, Carrie, Kate, Max, and Alex, and special cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He  had been in failing health for several years and has been lovingly cared for by family and Sandi Barrett, Wendy and Roger Bell, and Lori Hunter. Special thanks to Sandi Barrett who was tirelessly devoted to him for many, many years.
The world lost a great man. Rest in peace, David, Daddy, Grandpa, friend.

ELIZABETH TRIPP
Elizabeth Holtzclaw Tripp, 93, of Piedmont, widow of Alvis Tripp, died Monday, September 2, 2013 at McCall Hospice House.
Born in Greenville County, she was a daughter of the late Lloyd Lewis and Clara Bruce Holtzclaw. She was retired from Kelly Home Care and a member of Reedy Fork Baptist Church.
Surviving are daughter, Nadine Hurst of Piedmont; sister, Aldine Gray of Greer; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Wednesday, September 4  at Reedy Fork Baptist Church. Burial followed at Sandy Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.

JAMES ‘JIM’ L. REESE
James “Jim” L. Reese, 86, of Piedmont, husband of Billie Bayne Baker Reese, died Sunday, September 1, 2013.
Born in Salem, he was a son of the late Arthur and Annie Bryson Reese.
He was a member of Piedmont United Methodist Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, Frank A. Baker and Don Baker; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lucille Alexander.
A graveside service was held Wednesday, September 4 in St. Paul United Methodist Church Cemetery.

LEE BEASLEY
James Lee Beasley, 42, of Belton, husband of Heavenly Shuler Doolittle, died Sunday, September 1, 2013.
Born in Rabun County, GA, he was a son of the late James Monroe Beasley and the late Bertha Willette Maney Knight. He was an employee of Shuler’s Metal Roofing.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughter, Candace Leian Doolittle Beasley, of the home; and sisters, Annie Ruth Taylor of Royston, GA, Patricia Collins of Cleveland, GA, Maggie Justice and Becky Cook, both of Clayton, GA.
Memorial services will be held at 4 p.m. Friday, September 6, 2013 at Gray Mortuary Chapel, Pelzer.
Memorials may be made to the family to assist with funeral expenses.

ROY MICHAEL VEHORN
PELZER – Roy Michael Vehorn, 72, of 310 Old Georgia Rd., died August 26, 2013.
A native of Greer, SC, he was a son of the late Roy Julian and Mildred Shearer Vehorn.  He was a retired employee of Burroughs Computer Systems, and a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War.
He is survived by his brother, Frank Vehorn and his wife, Esther of Winter Haven, FL and three nephews, Bill Franklin Vehorn of Carmichael, CA, Steven Roy Vehorn and his wife, Jill of  Mechanicsville, VA and Andrew Michael Vehorn and his wife, Christen of Richmond, VA.
Graveside services were held 11 a.m. Monday at the Mountain View Cemetery in Greer, SC.
Visitation was held Monday at The Wood Mortuary prior to the service.

HAZEL BELL WIGINGTON
EASLEY – Mrs. Hazel Louise Bell Wigington, 92, wife of the late George Q. Wigington, Jr., passed away Sunday, September 1, 2013 at her home.
Born in Anderson County, a daughter of the late James Henry and Rosa Lee Bargoil Bell, Mrs. Wigington was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church.
Surviving are two sons, Larry Ellis Wigington (Jewel La Verle), and Randy Wood (Deborah), all of Easley; a brother, Glenn Bell (Ruth) of Pelzer; three grandchildren, Natalie Wigington Swillen (Bradley M.), Elizabeth Bunton Bowen (Capt. Kenneth J. Bowen, II, USN), and Ashley Wood; and six great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Wigington was predeceased by a daughter, Janet Wigington Bunton; two brothers and one sister.
Funeral services were 2:00 PM Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, where the body was placed at 1:30 PM. Burial followed in the Mountain Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation was Tuesday, September 3, 2013 from 6:00 PM until 7:30 PM at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown.
The family is at the home.

LARRY CARTER
Larry Gene Carter, 72, of Williamston, husband of Mary Owens Carter, died Monday, September 2, 2013.
He was a son of the late S.P. and Susie Roach Carter.  He was retired from Delta Woodside in Piedmont and a member of the Williamston Church of God.
Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are sons, Gene Carter of Anderson, Robbie Carter of Williamston; daughter, Linda Strickland of Williamston; six grandchildren; and sister, Joyce Leopard of Oconee.
The family will receive friends 5-6 pm on Thursday at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.
The funeral service will follow at 6 pm in the funeral home chapel.

RONNY MARCHBANKS
Ronny Marchbanks, 66, of Easley, died Monday, September 2, 2013 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Born in Pickens County, he was a son of the late Thomas and Evie Stone Marchbanks. He was former co-owner of M&M Service Center and a member of Jones Avenue Baptist Church. He was a Vietnam  veteran of the US Army.
Surviving are his wife, Linda Hooper Marchbanks of the home; a son, Michael Marchbanks of Easley; daughter, Kim Camp of Pickens; brother, Wayne Marchbanks of Piedmont; sister, Carol Phillips of Orlando, FL; and three grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at Jones Avenue Baptist Church. Burial with military honors will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
Family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church.

BILLY BROOKS
Billy Lindsey Brooks, 74, of Williamston, husband of Faye Elaine Mize Brooks, died Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013 at his home.
Born in Anderson County, he was a son of Inez Darby Brooks of Belton, and the late Truman Brooks.
He served in the South Carolina National Guard and was formerly employed with Blair Mill. He was a member of Eastview Baptist Church in Pelzer.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters, Lisa Evatt of Williamston, Angela Rewis and Tammy O’Carroll, both of Georgia; son, Kenneth Brooks of Pelzer; sisters Jackie Stewart of Anderson, and Debbie Brock and Glenda Thomas, both of Belton; brothers, Freddie Brooks of Seneca, Pete Brooks of Belton, and Danny Brooks of Honea Path; and 12 grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013 at Gray Mortuary chapel with burial following at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Anderson.
