Anderson County Sheriff’s Deputies investigated the following incidents:

PELZER

April 8 – J.J. Pearson responded to 588 Joe Black Rd. where Shanna Makin stated that her neighbor, name and description withheld by the ACSO, had shot her dog for barking. No one saw the incident but her son ran outside when he heard the shot and the neighbor began yelling at him. The dog had a small caliber minor wound to the leg. Deputy Pearson went next door to contact the neighbor who met him with a .22 rifle in his hand. He put the gun up when instructed to and denied shooting the dog, but did say he had been target practicing earlier.. He was unsteady on his feet and smelled of alcohol. The case is to be presented to a magistrate.

April 10 – Sgt. C.T. McBee responded to 30 River St. where Dondi Fiscus reported the burglary of his home and the theft of an Xbox game system valued at $369.

April 10 – Cpl. J.M. Culbertson responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in front of a vacant business at 1851 Hwy. 8. Upon arrival he discovered Donald Avery Jr., WM, 55, 5’4″, 145 pounds, of Anderson, passed out in the car. Upon reviving Avery, and following several attempts to contact relatives on his behalf, Culbertson placed him under arrest for public intoxication.

PIEDMONT

April 8 – J.E. Scott was on patrol in the vicinity of Hwy 86 and Blossom Branch Rd. when he saw Devin Hawkins, WM, 18, 6’1″, 150 pounds, red/brn on a motorcycle. He recognized Hawkins from previous encounters. Central dispatch advised that Hawkins was currently wanted on three active warrants. He was also arrested for DUS 2nd offense, and having a stolen tag on the motorcycle.

April 9 – J.C. Hanks responded to a report of a dog attack at Goldfinch Ct. Upon arrival, Stacy Price reported that her 14 year old daughter had been bitten and scratched by a neighbor’s dog. Unable to contact the owner of the dog, Hanks seized it and transported it to PAWS for a ten day quarantine.

April 10 – J.F. Marano received a telephone complaint from Sherry Myers of Old River Rd. that someone had entered her vehicle while it was at 904 Anderson St. and stolen her purse and wallet. The value was estimated at $175.

April10 – J.F. Marano received a telephone complaint that someone had stolen a flat screen TV from the Best Western Plus at 70 Kaylans Way. The loss was estimated at $300.

WILLIAMSTON

April 8 – J.C. Hanks responded to Little Beaver Creek Rd. where a juvenile victim reported that a gray pit bull had bitten him as he walked along the road. Hanks relocated to 2005 Beaverdam Rd., where the dog’s owner, name and description withheld by ACSO, said her dog had broken its chain and went after the juvenile, but she did not see the dog actually bite him. She had the appropriate rabies documentation and was allowed to retain the dog while holding it in a ten day quarantine. She was charged with letting an animal run at large.
