Honoring Superhero Jacob

Palmetto Middle School students joined thousands of students across the upstate wearing superhero shirts or costumes Wednesday to honor Jacob Hall, the six year old who died from injuries he received in a shooting at Townville Elementary School last week.

Employees in local businesses, and even Williamston Mayor Mack Durham showed their respect Wednesday by wearing Superman shirts and other superhero attire, the day the funeral for Hall was held at Oakdale Baptist Church in Townville.

Jacob was wounded along with three other students and a teacher Sept. 28, when Jesse Osborne, 14, of Townville began shooting at them on the playground. Jacob was taken to Greenville Memorial Hospital and remained in the intensive care unit throught the week. He died Saturday, wrapped in a Teenage Mutant Ninja turtles blanket.

Osborne is also accused of killing his father and then driving to nearby Townville Elementary where the school shooting took place.

He now faces two counts of murder, three counts of attempted muder and five counts of possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. (Photo by Mike Gowan)
