Palmetto High Football Field to be named for Dale Martin

The Anderson School District One Board of Trustees announced Tuesday that the Palmetto High Football Field will be named for former coach and administrator Dale Martin. Martin worked in public education for 34 years and in School District One as a teacher, coach, administrator and long time board member.

He coached Palmetto’s football team when they won the State 3A Championship in 1970. He also put a lot of time, energy and effort into the football field at Pelmetto, according to Superintendent David Havird. Martin is a member of the Palmetto High School Hall of Fame. He currently represents the District on the County Board of Education.

Martin will officially be recognized during halftime ceremonies at the November 18 playoff game.
