A series of strong thunderstorms Monday afternoon caused several problems in the area. Part of a large tree on Market Street fell on power lines and across the road. Town of Williamston workers and firefighters with the Williamston Fire Department cleared the tree from the roadway, however the power pole and power lines remained down several hours later. Williamston firefighters also helped in Pelzer where several trees and limbs were down causing similar problems. Portions of Pelzer were without power for a short time.
