Local artist and Palmetto High student Easton Gowan will be performing at the Historic Pelzer Auditorium in a country concert called Classic Country this weekend. He has been been playing a musical instrument since he was 6 years old. He took piano lessons at the age of 6, but later transitioned to guitar at the age of 8 where he found his true passion. Easton was instructed by one of the best in the state, Andrew Crawford, on how to play guitar and how to become his very best. Little did he realize that he would also be blessed with the talent to accompany that instrument with a voice that has turned many heads. His passion for music has led him to write his first original song, “My Bail” at the age of 16. Easton is part of the NewSpring Fuse development band, takes part in the Palmetto High Concert Choir and performs at many festivals, restaurants, other local venues. He’ll be singing songs by George Jones, Merle Haggard, Conway Twitty, and Waylon Jennings in the concert, which runs for 3 performances Friday, June 14, and Saturday, June 15, at 7:30pm and Sunday, June 16 at 3pm. He’ll be joined by other area country singers and backed by a full band. Tickets to Classic Country are $12, with discounts for seniors, military, and students and can be purchased by calling (864)947-8000 or online at www.milltownplayers.org.
