PBA members updated on events

Members of the Palmetto Business Association recently at Subway of Williamston. Envision Williamston Executive Director Sonya Crandall updated the group on the Bobbers on Big Creek Race event which will take place on Saturday, June 29 as part of the Williamston Freedom Celebration. The event is co-sponsored by the Palmetto Business Association and Envision Williamston. Crandall announced that the Town of Williamston and Envision Williamston had been awarded an Appalachian Regional Council grant of $90,000 which will be used to fund professional engineering and planning for commercial, residential and light industry development. She invited the PBA membership to participate in the planning process at some level.
Debbie Chapman updated the group on upcoming events in Williamston. There is currently a walk thru art show at Town Hall featuring pictures made by local photographers. The Freedom Celebration and fireworks show will be Saturday, June 29. The Kingsmen will perform southern gospel music in the Town Hall events center auditorium on July 6.
Monique Gambrell updated the group on activities in West Pelzer. The town will swear in a new police chief on July 9. The Dogs Days of Summer event will be held on Aug. 3 at 6 p.m. at Chapman Park. A new art show featuring work by students at the SC Governor’s School will begin on Aug. 6 which is also the date for the town council meeting. A National Night Out event will be held later that evening.
The PBA is working on a new membership folder and making plans for their annual golf tournament scheduled for October 4.
The PBA recently provided funding of $2500 to help fund a Master Plan for the Town of Pelzer.
