Home invasion suspect not yet identified


The Anderson County Office of the Coroner is investigating the shooting incident last night near Williamston which resulted in the fatal shooting of a man during a home invasion.

Brent Simpson, Deputy Coroner stated Monday that the victim has not been positively identified at this time.   The victim appears to be a Hispanic male between 25-30 years old that appears to have attempted to enter a residence at 440 Boiter Rd., Williamston and subsequently was shot by the home owner after a brief struggle.  The victim died as a result of a gunshot wound to the chest.

According to reports, investigators responded to 440 Boiter Rd., Williamston, which is in the Cheddar community, around 10:10 p.m. Sunday night in reference to a 911 call reporting a person had been had been shot after breaking in to a residence.  Anderson County Sheriff’s Office and Medshore Emergency Medical Services responded to the incident location.  The victim was declared deceased on scene.  The incident remains under investigation by both the Coroner’s office and the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office.
