Williamston Freedom Celebration to include fun and fireworks – July 1

Williamston’s Freedom Celebration and Fireworks will be held this Saturday, July 1 with expanded activities including a Freedom Market, Golf Cart Parade, Bobbers on Big Creek Race, Freedom Games, Cruise-In, food, live music and fireworks.
Festivities are set to begin with a Freedom Vendors Market from 10 am to 2 pm in Mineral Spring Park.
A Golf Cart and Logo Car Parade will be held with lineup and registration in the old ACE parking lot beginning at 11:30 am. There will be a first and second place winner. The parade will begin following registration, at approximately 12 noon.
There will be food trucks in the park from 12 noon until. The Williamston Masonic Lodge will also be selling hamburger and hotdog plates beginning at 3 pm at the old Goody’s location in the Town Square Center parking lot.
Envision Williamston and the Palmetto Business Association (PBA) will again sponsor the “Bobbers on Big Creek” race beginning at 2 p.m. along Big Creek in Mineral Spring Park. Registration will be held from 12 noon until 2 p.m. There will be cash prizes for the first three finishers and other prizes for participants. Bobber Tickets are still available from local PBA member businesses.
Come join the excitement and watch as hundreds of “Bobbers” float down the creek to the finish line.
Top three winners of the Envision Williamston/PBA Bobbers on Big Creek Race will receive cash gift card prizes donated by Palmetto Business Association.
Envision Williamston will also sponsor a variety of free games. The “Freedom Games” will be held in Mineral Spring Park.
Chris Wagner of Formal Affair Professional DJ Services will be in the park from 12-4 pm.
There will be free kids activities including a trackless train, inflatables and a rock climbing wall.
A Cruise-In and Antique Firetruck rides begins at 5 pm in the shopping center parking lot behind/beside McDonalds. The cruise-in is sponsored by the Williamston Fire Department.
The fire department is also selling tickets for three cash prize drawings. Proceeds from the tickets will be given to help with expenses for fireman Michael Phillips who was seriously injured in a recent motorcycle accident. Phillips works for the Town of Williamston and is a volunteer fireman with the West Pelzer Fire Department. Donations will also be taken with a boot-drive at the event. Modern Woodmen of America will match donations up to $2500, according to Williamston Fire Chief David Huff.
Jukebox 45 will provide live music from 7 to 9 pm at the Mineral Spring Park Amphitheater. Jimmy Owens, also known as the DJ from WQOK, will be introducing some songs just like he introduced when he was the DJ on WQOK Radio back in the day.
The fireworks show will begin around 9:30 pm behind Town Hall.
