An Anderson County Deputy examines a pickup truck after it was abandoned on Looper Road near Whitten Road late Thursday night (July 6). A West Pelzer police officer attempted to stop the truck earlier for a traffic violation. Little did they know the driver had previously wrecked the truck at the intersection of Palmetto Road and Depot Road ripping the drivers door off. West Pelzer police attempted to stop the truck a short time later but the driver sped off. When the pursuit reached unsafe speeds it was called off. The truck was found abandoned a short time later.
