West Pelzer Police Chief Scott Stoller reported that during June there were 17 reports written with 12 arrests including damaging a vehicle, grand larceny vehicle, recovery of stolen vehicle, driving under suspension (2) trespassing after notice, family court bench warrant, permit unauthorized person to drive, burglary (2), grand larceny (2), possession of a firearm by a felon (2), breach of peace (2), and resisting arrest.
Two notices were issued for ordinance violations such as grass, trash, junk vehicles, etc.
There were 68 tickets written with 6 warnings and one motor vehicle collision.
Three stolen vehicles were recovered in less than two weeks.
The following are details of some of the incidents recently investigated by the West Pelzer Police Department:
May 23 – Sgt. S. Hamdan responded to 16 Spring Street in reference to a buglary. Brenda Dutton Lyles reported that someone had entered her home by removing a window air conditioning unit from a bedroom window. According to reports, a yard chair had been moved up to the window to gain height to enter the home. A camouflaged ball cap with the letters SC in red print was found on the floor inside the house next to the window. Missing items included a Ruger 9MM pistol valued at $500, Samsung Gel Note Ultra cell phone with pearl color back valued at $750, silver antique jewelry box with jewelry valued at $250, 30 pocketknives and four necklaces valued at $200. Anderson County Forensics processed the scene and checked for fingerprints.
On June 8, ACSO Forensics informed Sgt. Hamdan that fingerprints lifted from the air condition unit belonged to a suspect by the name of Bradley Chad Davis, 17 Spring Street, located across from the burglarized house. Arrest warrants were obtained for Davis who was already in the Anderson County Detention Center for unrelated charges. Davis was charged with burglary, possession of a firarm by a convicted felon and grand larceny. Ronald Allen McClain, 28, was also arrested in connection with the incident. McClain is charged with burglary/breaking and entering, larceny, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
May 23 – Stalacia Aniyah Turner, 19, was arrested for multiple offenses including resisting arrest, narcotic violations and simple assault after a white Nissan Altima was observed traveling 45 mph in a 25 mph zone on Main Street. West Pelzer Chief Scott Stoller attempted to stop the vehicle for the speeding offense and the vehicle continued to speed through Pelzer, at times in excess of 50 mph. The vehicle continued into Greenville County and eventually stopped at Washington Church road. According to the report, due to dark tinted windows, the driver was ordered out of the vehicle at gun point then started twisting, turning and kicking in an effort to resist arrest. Two West Pelzer firefighters pulled up and offered to assist. Williamston Police Officer Cobb arrived to assist and Turner continued to resist efforts to have her sit in Cobb’s vehicle. Greenville County Sheriff’s Deputies arrived and took inventory of the vehicle. An unzipped purse in the passenger floor contained a baggie with 6 grams of a green leafy substance that field tested positive as marijuana. A cigar with what appeared to be the remnants of burnt marijuana was also found in the vehilce. Turner was transported by Greenville County EMS, at her request, to the hospital (Prisma) for evaluation. After being released Turner was transported to ACDC without further incident. Turner was charged with speeding, assault of a police officer while resisting arrest, failure to stop for a bluelight and possession of marijuana one ounce or less.
June 8 – Cory Dale Chastain, 42, was arrested for outstanding warrant from Anderson County Family Court after Chief Stoller was dispatched to 9 Burkett St. Pelzer in reference to a civil disturbance. Anderson County Deputy M. Garrett arrived and took custody.
June 23 – William Christopher Clayton Bagwell, 26, Midway Mannor Apartments, was arrested for disorderly conduct after Sgt. S. Hamdan was dispatched to 199 Mill St. in reference to a domestic dispute.
June 26 – Chief S. Stoller was notified of a white 2013 Ford F-150 stolen from the 7-Eleven at 2 Main St. Pelzer. The truck was parked near pump 5 when a white tall male entered the vehicle and drove it away without permission.
June 27 – Sgt. S. Hamdan received a call that Williamston Police Department had Bradley Chad David detained. Davis was a suspect in a grand larceny case in West Pelzer involving a stolen Ford F-150. Hamdan met with WPD officers, retrieved Davis and transported him to ACDC where he was served with three arrest warrants.
In May, there were 14 reports written with 9 arrests. Arrests included damaging a vehicle (2); arson (2); assault of an officer while resisting arrest; failure to stop; possession of marijuana less than 28 grams (3); possession of drug paraphernalia; possession of multiple scheduled drugs; trafficking of cocaine (2) and resisting arrest.
There were 47 tickets written and three notices issued. Also eight warnings and one motor vehicle collision.
