Palmetto Fishing Team qualifies for High School World Finals Championship

During their meeting Tuesday, Anderson County Council recognized Bryson Gurley and Ethan Evatt, rising seniors at Palmetto High and members of the Palmetto Fishing Team.
Gurley and Evatt have qualified for the 2023 14th Annual High School Fishing World Finals and National Championship held on the Mississippi River in LaCrosse, Wisconsin.
They competed against 1,179 participants with 419 boats in the 3-day tournament taking the lead on Day 1 winning daily big bass. The team finished 28th in the world with captain Tony Holliday.
Gurley and Evatt also qualified for the Strike King Bassmaster High School Championship which will be held on Lake Hartwell July 27-29.
Council approved a resolution congratulating Gurley and Evatt for their accomplishments, thanking them for representing Anderson County so well on the national stage, and wishing them the best of luck as they fish in the Bassmaster High School Championship!
Gurley and Evatt have fished with the team for three years.
