The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office and Coroner’s Office are investigating the death of a man on Dean Springs Road who was shot during an apparent altercation.
According to reports, the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office, Anderson County EMS, and Medshore EMS responded to Dean Springs Road and Dean Springs Circle around 1:40 am Saturday in reference to a person with a gunshot wound. The person was pronounced deceased on the scene.
Anderson County Deputy Coroner Ty Blackwell identified the gunshot victim as Jonlee Chad Ricks, 44, of Belton.
Blackwell said that the preliminary investigation indicated Ricks died from a gunshot wound to the chest and the death has been ruled a homicide.
The Coroner’s Office also stated that it appears that the victim was involved in an apparent physical altercation with another individual and was shot during the altercation.
An autopsy has been scheduled to assist in the investigation. The investigation is ongoing by the Anderson County Office of the Coroner and the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office.
