Presidential Preference Primaries in February – Early voting underway

Persons who plan to vote in the upcoming Democrat Preference Primary or the Republican Presidential Preference Primary should note that the two primaries will be held on different dates in February.

The SC Democratic Presidential Preference Primary will be held on Saturday, February 3. Three candidates will be on the ballot, Joe Biden, Dean Phillips and Marianne Williamson. Deadline to register to vote in the Democrat Primary has already passed.

The SC Republican Presidential Preference Primary will be held on Saturday, February 24. Two major candidates are left competing for Republican presidential nomination, Donald Trump and Nikki Haley. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis suspended his campaign on Sunday just before Tuesday’s New Hampshire primary. Deadline for persons to register to vote in the Republican Presidential Primary is this Thursday, Jan. 25.

Early voting in Anderson County will be held 8:30 am – 6 pm Monday through Saturday at the Anderson County Board of Registration and Elections office at 301 N. Main Street.

Early Voting for the Democratic Presidential Preference Primary will available through February 2.
Early voting for the Republican Presidential Preference Primary will be available through February 12 – 22.

Absentee voting BY MAIL is still being conducted. If you need an Absentee ballot BY MAIL, contact the Anderson County Board of Registration and Elections office 864-260-4035 or visit: www.scvotes.gov.

South Carolina holds the “First in the South” presidential primary for both major parties. Voters can cast their ballot in either primary but can only vote in one.
