The Watson Engineering 2024 Car Show will be held Saturday, March 30 from 11 am until 4 pm. The event will be held at the Watson Engineering, located at 1350 Shiloh Church Road in Piedmont.
There is a $10 entry fee per car. For more information on entering the car show, please contact Jim Worley at 864-325-4430 or by email at jimw@watsoneng.com. Public is invited to come out and look at all the cars. This year’s show is in memory of Chuck Watson, Sr.
This year all proceeds from the car show entries will be divided between the Rose Hill Cemetery and Piedmont Village Christmas Lights, Inc. Both are Piedmont Community charities that are important to the area.
The Rose Hill Cemetery goes back to 1878, and was maintained by Piedmont Manufacturing Company and JP Stevens until 1986. After years of neglect, the Rose Hill Cemetery Association was formed by concerned citizens. The cemetery is now maintained from donations. Sponsors noted to cut this cemetery one time costs around $1500.
The Piedmont Village Christmas Lights has only been organized for about three years. During that time, through donations, 55 Christmas pole lights were purchased that go from Dr. Cook’s dental office on Highway 86 to Highway 20. A 25-foot Christmas tree with a three foot star was also purchased. Last year “Merry Christmas Y’all” was added to the dam along with lights reflecting on the river. There is also insurance, light bills, and storage to maintain. Each year, the Piedmont Village Christmas Lights committee strives to add more to our Christmas village displays.
The famous Midge Davis Brunswick Stew will be available for purchase starting at 11 am. This usually sells out fast so don’t miss this. There will be music and a 50/50 raffle with tickets available for purchase. The raffle drawing will take place at 3 pm.
If anyone would like to be a sponsor for this event, please contact Marsha Rogers at 864-630-2466 or by email at mar0524@aol.com. Also, you may contact Angela Boggs at 864-420-4504. Sponsors will be recognized in the event flyer and on the entertainment stage the day of the event.
