Anderson County’s first black deputy Carl Anderson passes away

Long time veteran of the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office, Carl Anderson, the department’s first African American deputy, recently passed after a long illness.
Many of you have asked about the arrangements for Carl Anderson.
Unity Mortuary is handling funeral arrangements.
Due to COVID-19, it is the family’s desire is to have a private ceremony.

For those who may not be familiar with the relationship between the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office and the late Carl Anderson, our building (LEC) and the road beside it (Carl Anderson Way) was named in his honor.

Here are just some of his achievements:

-1970 ACSO first black Deputy
-Investigator/in 1987 promoted to Chief of Detectives
-1989-2000 Summary Court Magistrate
-Chief Magistrate for 2 years
-2000-2008 Owner of Private Investigator Business
-2009-2016 ACSO Deputy Chief
-2016 Retired
