Rhythm on the River May 7 – Powdersville

The Powdersville Business Council will host a new free family-friendly outdoor event at Dolly Cooper Park, “Rhythm on the River”, this Saturday, May 7th from 4-9 pm. Rhythm on the River offers Powdersville’s neighbors, friends and family a fun night of live music, food trucks, kids activities, local vendors, and more.

“We have been planning Rhythm on the River going on three years now and are so excited to finally announce it to our incredible community,” said Cindy Fox Miller, Chair of Powdersville Business Council. “We are grateful to be able to take advantage of the spectacular views at Dolly Cooper Park, welcome local vendors, hear live music, enjoy food trucks and just spend time with our friends. I also want to thank all of our sponsors. We have received astounding support from businesses in our community and without them this event wouldn’t be possible. Rhythm on the River will create another special place for our community to come together for a fun, family-friendly night out for years to come,”

Rhythm on the River will feature performances by two area bands, Tugalo Holler and Rhythm City Band. Tugalo Holler presents a blend of contemporary, soulful sounds with strong ties to traditional bluegrass. They are from Westminster and played their first concert in 2001. Rhythm City Band is a group of 9 musicians from the Upstate who have been playing together for over 20 years. Their music has been described as “just plain fun” and features all genres.
The Powdersville High School Jazz Band will also perform and the Powdersville and Wren High Color Guard will be a part of the festivities.

The event will also feature a KidsZone with multiple activities for all ages, local craft vendors, and food, dessert and drink trucks. J Dew, who was the on-court hype man for Clemson basketball games and was the Director of Fun for the Greenville minor league Boston Red Sox will Emcee.
Food trucks will include Rad Dad’s BBQ, Taco’s Blah Blah Blah. Sofrito (Greek), Eggs Up Grill, mac attack, Pound cake Man, Vampire Penguin , Coyote Coffee, Nomadik few. There will also be a hospitality tent.
Craft Vendors include: Snazzy Leopard, Hibiscus Artisan Soaps, Leather Works, Modern Forestry Candles, Country Cornhole, Big Play in a Box and Peacock & Paisley.
An entire ball field will be a Kids Zone with professional face painting and balloon artists and outdoor games for ages 5 and under and 5 to 12.
“Paws” will have adoptable pets on site.
“Rhythm on the River will be a benefit to the Powdersville area, to all the people that live here, and to the whole community,” said Fox Miller. “Bring your chair and come relax by the Saluda River.”
