The Anderson School District One Board of Trustees accepted information on the draft of the 2012-2013 school calendar during a meeting Thursday. (See calendar at end of story)
The calendar, which will be voted on at the next meeting, is a county-wide calendar very similar to this year’s calendar, according to Assistant Superintendent David Havird. Havird chairs the committee which is comprised of 10 members from across the five Anderson County school districts.
The calendar reflects an effort to prepare for core curriculum across the state and includes traditional family holidays. Christmas/winter holidays will be a bit later to include full weeks with school ending on Friday, Dec. 21 rather than on a Wednesday, Havird said. Classes will end on June 6.
The calendar will be presented at the next board meeting at the end of the month. Some county school districts have already approved it, Havird said.
