A man wanted in connection with an incident in Easley in 2017 was arrested Monday by the New York / New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force (NY/NJ RFTF).  Peter Jamel Stokes, a 36 year old black male, was taken into custody without incident at an apartment building off of Lincoln Avenue in New York.  Stokes was wanted by the Easley Police Department for Attempted Murder, Possession of Weapon during Violent Crime, and Possession of Firearm/Ammunition w/Conviction of Violent Crime.  The charges stem from an
altercation that occurred on May 6, 2017 on Davis Street in the city limits of Easley.
With the persistence of the US Marshals Operation Intercept Fugitive Task Force (OPIN)
working in collaboration with the Easley Police Department and Pickens County Sheriff’s Office,
investigators followed up on a tip, an investigative lead was sent and Stokes was located.  Stokes is
currently pending extradition back to South Carolina.
