Anderson School District One Names Teachers of the Year for 2019-2020

Anderson School District One welcomed over 1100 employees back to school at their annual Back to School Celebration last Friday. Jared Fricks, Chorus Teacher at Palmetto High School was named the Anderson School District One 2019-2020 Teacher of the Year. Cierra Bagwell was named the Induction Teacher of the Year and Christy McNeely, Support Staff of the Year.

The theme, 100% Heart and Soul, was shared by District Superintendent, Robbie Binnicker who encouraged all employees to commit their best to the new school year. All were welcomed by Senior Savannah Shealy, Palmetto High Student Body President and Jack Callaham, Palmetto Middle student who will serve as State Beta Club President.

Jane Harrison, Assistant Superintendent, recognized the Anderson School District Teachers of the Year. “Our district is very fortunate to have teachers that are experts at teaching students and providing high quality instruction,” Harrison said. “These are some of our finest teachers selected by their schools because of their leadership, commitment to teaching and hard work they exemplify.”

District One Teachers of the Year include: Cedar Grove Elementary – Christy Lecroy, 5th grade teacher:
Concrete Primary – JoEarle Roach, Special Ed Resource teacher; Hunt Meadows Elementary – Shannon Frydenlund, 3rd grade teacher; Palmetto Elementary – Katelynn Duffie, Special Ed self-contained teacher; Powdersville Elementary – Brenna Horn, 5th grade teacher; Spearman Elementary – Wes Ballard, Special Ed self-contained Teacher; West Pelzer – Haley White, 3rd grade teacher and Wren Elementary – Sarah Coyle, 4th grade teacher.
Also – Palmetto Middle – Zak Theus, 8th grade social studies teacher; Powdersville Middle – Megan Cole, Spanish teacher; Wren Middle – Liz Jordan, 8th grade math; Palmetto High – Jared Fricks, Chorus teacher; Powdersville High – Ashley Bate, ELA teacher and Wren High -Melody Weatherford, Family and Consumer Science teacher.
