US Congressman Jeff Duncan met with First Responders and Law Enforcement in Williamston and Powdersville last week as part of an annual tradition to honor and show support for First Responders and Law Enforcement throughout the Third District.
Rep Duncan was at the Williamston Fire Department on Wednesday, where he had a visit and open-ended conversation with Williamston Fire Chief David Huff, Mayor Rockey Burgess and representatives of the fire department and police department. West Pelzer Police Chief Scott Stoller also attended.
On Thursday he met with the Powdersville Fire Department.
“It has always been a priority of mine to thank and honor the heroes who are willing to run into danger to keep us safe,” Congressman Duncan said. “Our First Responders are the ones who make our country great, and it’s important they know they are appreciated and that their work does not go unnoticed.”
Duncan said he wanted to show them he “has got their backs and supports them. They are critical.”
Some of the discussion was about the 800 MHz radio system being used by public safety agencies throughout South Carolina and the possibility of future Federal money to upgrade aging equipment.
The 800 MHz Cellular Radiotelephone (Cellular) Service is in the 824–849 and 869–894 MHz spectrum range. The most common use of Cellular Service spectrum is mobile voice and data services, including cell phone, text messaging, and Internet.
