During a special called meeting Tuesday, Pelzer Town Council approved an official zoning map for the town.
The zoning map is in support of the Town’s Comprehensive Plan for existing and future needs of the community.
According to the ordinance, the new zoning and map will help the Town in lessening congestion in the streets, securing safety from fire; providing adequate light and air; preventing the overcrowding of land; avoiding undue concentration of population; facilitate the adequate provision of transportation, water, sewage, schools, parks, and other public improvements, protect scenic areas, and protect areas subject to periodic flooding against development, in accordance within the Comprehensive Plan.
