Pelzer Town Council approved a resolution Tuesday to request membership in the Anderson Area Transportation Study (ANATS).
ANATS is a Metropolitan Planning Organization under the SC Department of Transportation and Federal Highway Administration through which Federal funding for transportation related projects is allocated.
Pelzer, West Pelzer and Williamston, have all been grouped under the Greenville Pickens Area (GPATS) Transportation Study for several years.

The most recent census determined that the three towns are now their own “census defined urban area” allowing them the choice of which planning organization they want to be included in.
Mayor Will Ragland said that with the change in the Upstate Urban boundaries, Pelzer can join the ANATS, along with West Pelzer and Williamston and will be a voting member in the organization.
Ragland said that with the change, “We hope to see more federal funding coming to our part of the Upstate.”
The Town’s contract for trash pickup will change over to Meridian in July with new cans being delivered on July 28 and 29. GFL will pick up the old cans on July 30, and residents should have them emptied and ready.
The Tuesday/Thursday pickup days will not change.
“We hope to see a resolution to the ongoing problems with our trash pickup,” the Mayor said.
Council then went into executive session to discuss a legal matter.
