Powdersville restaurant to be featured on America’s Best Restaurants Roadshow – Antonio’s Pizza and Pasta

A local restaurant, Antonio’s Pizza & Pasta, will be hosting a visit from America’s Best Restaurants (ABR) in early August.
America’s Best Restaurants, a national media and marketing company focusing on bringing attention to local, independently-owned restaurants, will bring its ABR Roadshow to the restaurant on August 1st.
Popular dishes will be highlighted, along with an extensive on-camera interview with owner Steuart Watson about the restaurant’s special place in the community. The episode will be aired extensively on social media channels at a later date.
Watson has been in the restaurant business about eight years, after careers as a college professor and as a co-founder of a technology company. After meeting a personal goal of retiring at age 50, he found he needed something else to do, and opening restaurants fit the bill.
Antonio’s original location opened in Wilmington in 2015; Piedmont’s location opened in 2018.
Watson notes that it is important to him to be involved with the region. He had considerable support from patrons during the pandemic, when the restaurant was kept afloat by offering curbside, take-out, and groceries from his purveyors. He supports youth sports teams, fundraisers, and other community events.
“Our mission is really to embed ourselves in the community,” Watson says. “I want [people] to see that [the restaurant] is a vehicle for us. Obviously we need to make a profit, we need to make money but my vision was to become an integral part of this community so that we can reach out and do outreach to help people.”

Popular menu items that may be featured on the episode include the chicken marsala, which Watson notes is his favorite dish. “It will stand up against any in the country. I love it. I’ve had it in Italy, France, New York, San Francisco. I’ll tell you, I think ours stands up against any of those,” he says.
Another popular item is what they call the “three-napkin” pizza, which Watson says some would call “Supreme”-style.
“When you bite into it – It’s a beautiful pie anyway – when you bite into it, it’s like ‘oh my God, this is what pizza is supposed to be, right here’,” Watson says.
America’s Best Restaurants will be filming on location on Tuesday August 1st from 2 pm to 5 pm EST. The restaurant’s finished episode premiere date will be announced on their Facebook page and will be featured on America’s Best Restaurants’ website.
