Mina Bagwell

Mina Louise Williams Bagwell of Easley, 79, wife of the late Charles William Bagwell, passed away Tuesday, September 19, 2023, in Charleston, SC.

Born in Moline, IL, she was the daughter of the late Roy Lee and Vera Hurlbut Williams. She worked as a nurse and later managed the Patient Relations Department at St. Francis Hospital in Greenville.  

She worshiped at Rock Springs Baptist Church. 

She is survived by daughter, Donna Henderson of Johns Island; son, Daniel Henderson of Simpsonville; seven grandchildren.

A graveside service was held September 23 at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

Marie Williamson

Piedmont – Martha Marie Parks Williamson, 85, wife of the late Jerome Bolton Williamson, passed away Monday, September 25, 2023.

Born in Piedmont, she was a daughter of the late Charlie and Mary Chasteen Parks. She was a member of Piedmont United Methodist Church and was a homemaker. She was a loving mother and made the best banana pudding.

Survivors include daughter, Michele Lindsey (Rick) of Fountain Inn; sons, Michael Williamson (Dawn) of Piedmont and Joel Williamson (Cyndi) of Fountain Inn; thirteen grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by daughter, Karen Jones; brother, James L. Parks; and sister, Minzie Dyal.

Visitation will be held Sunday, October 1, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Piedmont United Methodist Church. A memorial service will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Piedmont United Methodist Church, Building Fund, P.O. Box 147, Piedmont, SC 29673.

James Pollard

James Randolph “Snub” Pollard of West Pelzer, 82, passed away Thursday, September 21, 2023.

Born in Pelzer, he was the only son of Troy and Blanche H. Pollard. He served in the U.S. Army National Guard and Air Force Reserve and retired from Cline Hose and Hydraulics.

He was the last surviving member of his family.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, September 28, at 3:00 p.m. at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

Jeanette Creswell

Hazel Jeanette Stewart Creswell of Piedmont, 92, wife of the late William David Creswell, passed away Friday, September 22, 2023.

Born in Pelzer, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Eliza Bishop Stuart. She retired from Kemet and was a member of Piedmont Heights Baptist Church.

   Survivors include sons, Michael “Mike” Creswell of NC and Randall “Randy” Creswell of SC; niece raised as a daughter, Donna Pare of Greenville; sister, Peggy Joyce Surratt of Piedmont; seven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

 Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 27, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at Gray Mortuary. A graveside service will follow at 3:00 p.m. at White Plains Baptist Church Cemetery.

James McCuen

Pelzer – James Alan “Mack” McCuen, 71, of Pelzer, husband of Wanda Allison McCuen, passed away Monday, September 18, 2023.

He retired from Michelin following 41 years of service. James was a devoted Clemson Tiger fan for 60 years and an avid fisherman.

In addition to his wife of 52 years, he is survived by daughters, Terri Leigh Jones (Marty) of Williamston and Jeannie Lollis (Matt) of Anderson; and grandchildren, Autumn Mikayla Smith of GA and Chloe Alyson Smith of Fountain Inn.

The family received friends 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 22, at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer with the funeral service following at 1:00 p.m. in the mortuary chapel.

Burial was at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Anderson.

Jackie Thompson

Jackie Dale Thompson of Pelzer, 78, husband of Trudy Stoffel Thompson, passed away Sunday, September 24, 2023.

Born in Pelzer, he was a son of the late William Dendy and Rachel Virginia Jordan Thompson. He retired from AFCO in Anderson and was a member of Restoration Chapel Church of God of Prophecy in Williamston.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters, Denise Essig of Anderson and Shannon Long of Belton; brothers, Randolph Thompson of Pelzer and Gary Thompson of Belton; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held September 27 at Restoration Chapel Church of God of Prophecy, with the funeral following in the church. Burial will be at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

Gloria M. Dahl 

Gloria M. Dahl, 76, of Piedmont, SC, went to be with the Lord Friday, September 22, 2023. She was the daughter of the late Lillie Mae Taylor Nelson and Ernest Bruce Nelson. 

In addition to her parents, Gloria was preceded in death by her husband, Norman A. Dahl; seven siblings: Margaret Walker, Carolyn Nelson, Millicent Nelson, Teena Childers, Francis Garrett, Donald Nelson, and Rary Nelson. 

Gloria is survived by her two sons, Erik (Christi), Dennis (Sheila); grandchildren, Tanner and Kinsley Dahl; and brother, Reverend David T. Nelson. 

Gloria was a multi-genre writer. She was the author of profiles, essays, feature articles and other writings. She had penned dialogue for local stage productions, served on the Reader Panel for Chicken Soup for the Soul books, and helped choose the stories. Gloria’s essays have appeared in the anthologies, Hungry for Home, and Wild, Wonderful and Wacky, South Carolacky. Her freelance work was mainly in writings human interest features. She wrote humorous stories as well. Gloria was also a multi-instrumentalist. A lover of music, she was partial to Bluegrass. Gloria will be remembered for her selfless, big heart.

A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Friday, October 6, 2023 at M. J. “Dolly” Cooper Veteran’s Cemetery, 140 Inway Dr., Anderson, SC 29621.
