Rebecca (Becky) Brown Johnston, Joe Cothran, Ruenette Willis, Sandra Jean Bowman

Sandra Jean Bowman 

Sandra Jean Bowman 72, of Williamston, SC passed away peacefully on Monday, November 20, 2023, with her family by her side. Mrs. Bowman was born September 20, 1951 in Folkston, GA a daughter of Jack M. Winkle Sr and Betty Caddell Winkle.

She graduated from Hartsville High School in 1969. Soon after graduating high school, she moved to Charleston, SC where she met the love of her life. They soon married and ultimately moved to Williamston, SC where they raised 4 children. She was a former employee of MCI. 

Mrs. Bowman was preceded in death by her husband James Walter Bowman Sr, her great-great nephew Kaden Bond, her father Jack M. Winkle Sr, her mother Betty J. Winkle, and her brothers, Frank W. Sanderson, and Jack M. Winkle Jr. 

Surviving are two sons, James W. Bowman Jr (Kelly) and Joseph Bowman both of Williamston, SC, two daughters, Christine Bowman (Kellie) of Honea Path, SC and Lynn Jennings (Milford) of Navarre, Fl, 9 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren that called her “Grandma Sandy”, one sister Teresa Ann Caddell Watts of Moncks Corner; three brothers, James E, Sanderson (Julie) of Georgetown, Randy Eugene Sanderson of Pineville, and John W. Winkle (Debbie) of Easley.

Ruenette Willis 

Clara Ruenette Lockaby Willis of Piedmont, 88, wife of the late Carl Junior Willis, passed away Saturday, November 25, 2023. 

Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late Walter Elton Lockaby and Corrie Betty Roper Lockaby Bowen. She retired from J.P. Stevens, White Horse Plant and was a member of Mountain Springs Baptist Church. 

She is survived by her children, Karen Fitzgerald of Pelzer, David Hawthorne of Piedmont, Ronnie Hawthorne of Piedmont, and Sonya Watson of Marion, NC; brothers, George Lockaby of Fountain Inn and Martin Lockaby of San Antonio, TX; ten grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren. 

Visitation was held Wednesday, November 29 at Gray Mortuary, with the service following at 2:30 p.m. in the mortuary chapel. Burial will be at the Shiloh United Methodist Church Cemetery in Piedmont.

Joe Cothran

Joe William Cothran of Williamston, 73, passed away Sunday, November 26, 2023.

Born in Anderson, he was a son of the late William Frank and Sara Ruth Gambrell Cothran. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and formerly employed with Michelin and Southeastern Distributors.

He is survived by son, Eric Cothran of West Pelzer; brother, David Cothran of Williamston; and two grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, December 1, at Gray Mortuary Chapel, Pelzer.

Rebecca (Becky) Brown Johnston

Rebecca (Becky) Brown Johnston, 71, passed away Friday, November 28, 2023.

Becky lived most of her life in Piedmont, SC. She was the daughter of the late Mary Irene Brown, She retired from University Meducal Group.

Survivors include son, Richie Scott and wife, Michelle of Travelers Rest, SC; granddaughter Kristian Johnson of Spartanburg, SC and her beloved great-granddaughter, Mia Barada of Taylors, SC. And many many friends. 

Becky was preceded in death by her mother, her brother, Jerry Brown and daughter, Tara Johnson.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, December 3, 2023 at 2:00pm at the Piedmont United Methodist Church, Piedmont, SC.
