The Pelzer Heritage Commission (PHC) is now selling memorial bricks for a planned Veterans Memorial in Pelzer.
PHC Vice President Larry Coker said, “The Memorial will include Veterans from Pelzer, West Pelzer, Williamston and Piedmont.”
The four by eight inch bricks will have three lines of wording and will be $100 each. Eight by eight inch bricks will have six lines of wording and an emblem and will be $200 each.
“All bricks sold will go toward the perpetual care of the Memorial,” Coker said.
The Memorial was originally to be located at the old Pelzer Lower mill site on corner of Murray St. and MaCauthern St, however, due to concerns of vandalism, the Pelzer Heritage Commission is considering relocating the site.
The PHC recently recently requested the Town of Pelzer consider allowing the Veterans Memorial to be located at Wardlaw Park.
The design includes a section to honor all Veterans and a Ring of Honor at the front to honor those who gave the ultimate sacrifice.
Meritus Signature Homes in Anderson will be designing and handling all facets of the memorial construction. PHC will supply the materials. The project is also supported by Upstate Warriors Solution, Vets Helping Vets, VFW and Palmetto High ROTC.
