Woodmont High inducts three into Athletic Hall of Fame

The Woodmont High School Athletic Hall of Fame honored the 2023 class in the Athletic Hall of Fame during the home basketball game with Hillcrest High School on January 12. Inductees in this year’s class are Lamont Calhoun, Tony Sullivan, and Tracy Trantham Ferrill.

Tracy Trantham Ferrill, (1979-1982) representing the class of 1982, played volleyball, basketball, and track and field.
She received Volleyball All-Conference honors in 1982 as well as the WHS Hustle Award. The 1980 Volleyball team was champions for both the regular season and conference tournament. She was a co-captain for the basketball team. In track and field, she earned All-Conference honors in both 1981 and 1982 and finished as 6th in the 1982 State Track Meet 800 meter run. Academically she was named the DAR Good Citizen Award, a Clemson Junior Scholar, and was the WHS Representative for Girls State.

Lamont Calhoun, representing the class of 1990, played basketball and football.
He was named WHS Best Offensive Back (1988), All Conference Peach Blossom Conference, Player of the Week. He received a full football scholarship to Lees McRae College where he was a Preseason All- American, named MVP in both 1993 and 1994, held record for most completions, yardage and completions. Academically he won the Maxwell Math Award. He has served the South Greenville community as the Head Coach of the South Greenville Wildcats 2007 – 2012. He was named 1993 Best Defensive Back, as well as All-Conference in 1993, and All-County in 1993 and 1994. He also received the Greenville Urban League Athletic Achievement Award in 1994-1995. He received a football scholarship to Newberry College where he was a four-year starter and named 1998 Indian of the Year. Following his college career, he has coached running backs at North Greenville College in addition to high school football at Walterboro, Hillcrest, Wren, Blacksburg, and Broome high schools.
