Anderson School District One Superintendent Robbie Binnicker recently announced that this school year will be his last as Superintendent.
Binnicker made the announcement following an executive session held by the School Board to discuss a personnel issue during the November Board meeting.
Binnicker has served as superintendent since 2018. Under his leadership, District One completed a $132 million building program that included construction of two new middle schools, classroom additions, renovations and safety improvements throughout the District.
After overseeing that building program, Binnicker began the process of overseeing a new building program which began in 2023 and includes the construction of a new elementary school in Powdersville.
During his time as Superintendent, District One has consistently led the State in School Report Card ratings, student test scores and other areas.
The District recently reported the highest graduation rate ever at 94.2 percent.
Binnicker was named Superintendent of Anderson School District One in Feb. 2018, filling the position vacated by the retirement of Superintendent David Havird.
Before being named Superintendent, Binnicker served as Assistant Superintendent of Administration for five years, Director of Secondary Education for one year and principal of Wren High School for 11 years.
Board Chair Nancy Upton said School Board members are in the process of searching for the person to succeed Binnicker as Superintendent. Upton said the Board is planning to fill the position from within the District rather than conduct a national/regional/state search for a new superintendent. “We are looking internally for an administrator who not only knows the communities served by Anderson One, has a proven record and is an experienced leader,” she said.
Binnicker will continue as AD1 Superintendent through the 2023-24school year ending June 30.
