Lisa Williams

Piedmont – Lisa Dianne Williams, 53, passed away Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at her home.

Born in Greenville County, she was the daughter of the late David Robert “Bobby” and Linda Gail Kelley Williams. She was formerly employed with ResCare Home Care and a Baptist.

Survivors include special nieces, Nikki Williams Brooks and Kelly Christiana Williams-Liles, both of the home; special friends, Tonya Ramsbey of Anderson; and favorite cousin, Jerry Fowler.

The family will receive friends 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 2, at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer with a memorial service following at 12:00 p.m. in the mortuary chapel.

Joe S. Long 

Joe S. Long, 92,  passed away June 16, 2024.

A native of Piedmont, he was a son of the late Ollie & Homer Long. He is survived by his wife Maria Long of Greensboro.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He retired from Burlington Industries, and pursued his real estate brokers license to support his consulting work.

His Celebration of Life will be held at Forbis and Dick Funeral Home in Greensboro on Friday, June 28th at 5:00 p.m.. The family will receive friends at 4:00 p.m. prior to the service.

Burial will be in the Long family plot at Shiloh Methodist Church in Piedmont. Any memorial donations can be made to the Boys and Girls Club of Greensboro.

Mary Phillips Saxon

Mary Phillips Saxon, 91, of Anderson, SC, formerly of Williamston, peacefully passed away Wednesday, June 19, 2024.  Born in Anderson County, she was the daughter of the late James R. Phillips and Lillian V. Phillips.

Survivors include daughter, Rita Saxon Brown (Mike); Grandchildren, Stacy Brown (Todd) of Swansea, SC, Holly Hanna (Ken) of Duncan, SC; Great-grandchildren, Corbin and Will Pye, Lauren Brown; Step-Grandchildren, JT and Dalton Brown, Kyle and Tyler Hanna.  She is survived by one sister, Joyce Phillips Hall of Florida and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters.

Mary was sassy and strong, but loved fiercely and was a true caretaker by nature.  When you were with her, you were sure to be laughing. She loved to sing and make people smile.

A private graveside service will be held at a later date.

Janet Richardson

Belton – Janet Gail Ellison Richardson, 81, widow of David Lonn Richardson, passed away Wednesday, June 19, 2024.

 Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late Lawrence Berry Ellison and Wilma Lucille Mullikin Ellison Snider. She retired from New Image II Salon and was a member of High Praises Church.

Survivors include daughters, Ginger Ray (Shawn) of Belton and Ami Franklin (Scott) of Columbia; sister, Barbara Welborn of Williamston; brother, Billy Ellison (Ana Maria) of Williamston; grandchildren, Olivia Wright, Gabriel Franklin, Lucas Franklin, Dylan Ray (Ashlyn), Samantha Ray Keown (Jared), and Alex Ray; and five great-grandchildren. 

The family received friends 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. Friday, June 21, at Gospel Light Church, 3000 Midway Road, Anderson with the funeral service following at 3:00 p.m. at the church. Burial was at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

Betty Addison

Pelzer – Betty Sue Looper Addison, 91, wife of 70 years to John T. Addison, Sr., passed away Friday, June 21, 2024.

   Born in Pelzer, she was a daughter of the late Marshall Addison and Sarah Elizabeth Richardson Looper.  She retired from the Greenville County Health Department and was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church where she sang in the Senior Choir, Timeless Devotion.

She is survived by children, Thomas Addison (Roni) of Pelzer, Lora Crane (Tony) of Seneca, and Steven Addison (Jane) of Pelzer; grandchildren, Nathan Crane, Lauren Cromer (Wes), Emily Spencer (Cody), Joseph Addison, Matthew Addison (Cassidy) and Hannah Addison; great-grandchildren, Jada, Madi, and Collin.

She was predeceased by brothers, Paul, Tommy, Randy, and Glenn Looper; sisters, Ruth Holiday, Olivia Bryant, Frances Segers, and Martha Whitten.

Visitation will be Wednesday, June 26, from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. at Tabernacle Baptist Church.  The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the church, with burial at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery, Pelzer.

Jimmy Moore

Piedmont – James Ray “Jimmy” “Baby” Moore, husband of Rhonda Jean Garrett Moore, passed away Thursday, June 20, 2024.

   Born in Pickens, he was a son of the late Leonard Romaine and Kathleen Wilson Moore. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves and retired from Vytech and Enel Hydro Power Plant. While in retirement, he worked for Carolina Auto Sales.

Jimmy was a volunteer with the Piedmont Business Association, lifetime supporter of Wren High School Athletics and South Carolina Gamecocks, past director of the Harley Owners Group – Greenville, volunteer coach for the Wren Youth Association, and deeply involved with the Piedmont Community.

   He was an avid deer hunter and enjoyed spending time at the Jockey Lot and walking the track with his buddies.

   Jimmy dearly loved his family and in addition to his wife, he is survived by daughter, Keli Moore Bruce (Doug); son, Bradley Moore (Sandra Finley), all of Piedmont; sisters, Bobbie Stokes and Shirley Moore; brother, Charles Moore (June), all of Piedmont; grandchildren, Kennedy Bruce Mack (Tanner), Logan Bruce, and Brody Bruce (Raley Warga); and great-grandson, Riggins Mack with another great-grandson expected in November.

Visitation was held Monday, June 24, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.

A private burial will be held at a later date.
