RUMMIE MURRY

Rummie Murry, 85, of Greenville, died Saturday, December 3, 2011 at his home. Born in Louisville, MS, he was the son of the late Tennie and Estelle McDonald Murry. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.Surviving are daughters, Joyce Murry Ponder of Cleveland, OH, Gloria Murry Williams of Piedmont and Angela Murry Harris of the home; sisters, Ardell Scott of Ashtabula, OH, Mabeline Carter of Sun City, CA and Bobbie Nell Odom of Columbus, OH; brothers, Henry Murry and Joseph Murry, both of Cleveland, OH; seven grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was held Saturday at Watkins, Garrett & Woods Mortuary. Burial followed in M.J. Dolly Cooper VA Cemetery.

EDNA WILLIAMS

PIEDMONT—Edna Joe Bryson Williams, 82, of 657 Lindley Road, widow of Robert Lee Williams, died Thursday, December 8, 2011, at Hart Care Center in Hartwell, GA.

Born in Piedmont, SC, she was a daughter of the late William and Alma Patton Bryson. She retired from Swirl Manufacturing.

She is survived by her daughters Ann and her husband Donny Crompton of Pelzer, SC; Roberta and her husband Tony Reid of Piedmont, SC; Lynn and her husband Harry Human of Pelzer, SC; Tracy and her husband Randy Church of Easley, SC; her son Norman Williams of the home; her sister Ila Mae Smith of Piedmont, SC; her brothers Richard Bryson of Ridgeland, SC; Willie Bryson of Reidsville, GA; eleven grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a child, Bonnie Williams.

Visitation was 2:00-3:00 p.m. Saturday, December 10, 2011 at Gray Mortuary. The funeral was at 3 p.m. Saturday at Gray Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Bill Bryant officiating. Burial followed at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

WILLIAM ‘BILL’ WRENN

William “Bill” Erby Wrenn, 81, of Piedmont, widower of Mary Jones Wrenn, died December 9, 2011.

Born in Ware Shoals, he was a son of the late James A. Wrenn, Sr. and Mallie Moore Wrenn. He was a retired manager with Food Service of America and retired from the U.S. Navy.

Surviving are a son, William “Billy” E. Wrenn II of the home; a sister; and one grandchild.

Graveside services were held Dec. 11 at Turkey Creek Cemetery in Ware Shoals.

EVELYN HANNON

Ruth Evelyn Oxner Hannon, wife of J. R. “Dude” Hannon, Sr., of Pelzer, died at their home on Sunday, December 11, 2011. A native of the Conestee Community, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Clinton Oxner, Jr. and Nannie Mae Cheek Oxner. She retired from Texize Chemicals (Dow Brands) in Mauldin and Dusco Textiles Co. in Belton. She was a member of Washington Baptist Church.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are three children, Gail Hendrix Moore of Bennettsville; sons, Charles S. Hendrix, of Simpsonville, and J. R. “Rick” Hannon, Jr. of Ware Place; a sister, Sue Oxner, of Pelzer; two grandsons; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at the funeral home chapel of Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. Memorials may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 950 West Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605.

SARAH MCPHERON

Sarah McPheron, 42, of Piedmont, died Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at her home.

She was the daughter of Herbert and Rosemary McPheron. She was Legal liaison for Cigna Insurance Company.

She is survived by eight brothers and sisters, Mary Callahan, Shirley Connor, Herbie McPheron, Dennis McPheron, Caroline McPheron, Alice Reed, all of NC, Margaret McPheron, and Laura McPheron of SC.

Funeral service was held Saturday, Dec. 10 in the Chapel of Cannon Funeral Home Fountain Inn. Burial followed in Greenville Gardens.

JANETTE LEE LASATER

In loving memory of Janette Lee Lasater of Belton, SC.

Jan was born September 22, 1961 in Greenville, SC to James and Betty Shirley along with her twin sister Ann. Jan passed December 9, 2011 after an extended illness giving a courageous fight until the end.

Jan is survived by her loving husband of 32 years, Derek Lasater, sister Ann Ray (Stanley) of Belton, SC, brother James Shirley (Kristi) of Easley, SC; in-laws Don Lasater (Becky) of Six Mile, SC; and David Lasater (Irene) of Navarre, FL., along with many nieces and nephews and two God sons who will miss her greatly.

Jan never met a stranger and had a kind word and a smile to share with all. She enjoyed Bible study, spending time with family and friends and loved playing with the children. Her most favorite place was Myrtle Beach, SC. She was loved by many and will be missed by all whose heart she touched.

The family would like to thank Preacher Bo Trotter of Church of God of Prophecy in Belton and Pastors Johnny Touchet and Jeff Jowers of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Powdersville. They spent tireless hours with the family during their time of need and are greatly appreciated and a true blessing.

A Memorial Service will be held December 17, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. at the Belton Church of God of Prophecy, 107 Blair Mill Road.

In lieu of flowers contributions for final expenses would be greatly appreciated and accepted.

ELGIN COLE

Elgin John Columbus Cole, 84, of 32 Dove Street, Williamston, husband of Betty Vannoy Cole, died Monday, December 12, 2011 at Hosanna Health and Rehab in Piedmont.

Born in Akron, Ohio, he was a son of the late Ross Leon and Minnie Mae Thomas Cole. He was retired N&W Railroad and a U.S. Navy Veteran.

Surviving his wife of the home; daughters, Brenda Terwilliger of Forest City, NC, Teresa Gambrell of Honea Path; son, Rob Cole of Young Harris, GA; eleven grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; fourteen great great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Linda Lou Cole, five brothers, two sisters.

The family is at the home and will receive friends 1-2pm Thursday, December 15, 2011 at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.

Funeral services will follow at 2 pm Thursday in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories.

JOAN KELLY

Myra Joan Richey Kelly, 75, of Honea Path, widow of Melvin E. Kelly, died Thursday at her home.

Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late Willie Mae Richey Austin. She was a member of Barkers Creek Baptist Church.

Surviving are a son, Milton Kelly of Williamston; a daughter, Tracy Ware of Honea Path; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were held at 2 P.M. Tuesday at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Anderson.

BERNICE NELSON

Cleo Bernice Nelson, 81, of Pelzer, widow of Dana W. Nelson, died Sunday, December 11, 2011, at Magnolia Place.

Born in Corbin, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Ramon and Alice McDonald. She was a homemaker.

She is survived by daughters, Ada Ross of Yoder, CO, Debbie Collins of Taylors, and Tonya Ramsbey of Anderson; sons, Larry White of CA, John Burdge of Honea Path, and Jim Burdge of Pelzer; brother, Coy Cross of CA; eleven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday, December 15, at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, at the Greenville Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel with entombment following.
