MARVIN BOWEN
Walter Marvin Bowen, 77, of Anderson, died April 24, 2012 at his home.
Born in Anderson, he was the son of the late David O. Bowen, Sr. and the late Caturah Martin Bowen. He was a veteran of the US Navy and was owner and operator of Bowen’s Upholstery.
Surviving are daughters, Donna Compton of Anderson, Anne Allred of Piedmont, Anita Hitt and Marie Taylor, both of Anderson; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held at The McDougald Funeral Home Chapel on April 27. Interment followed at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with military honors.

SARA ROGERS
Sara Agnes Holliday Rogers, 82, of Williamston, wife of Marvin Floyd Rogers, died Thursday, April 26, 2012 at AnMed Health Medical Center.
Born in Williamston, she was a daughter of the late Arthur Spears and Rosa Caroline Creamer Holliday.
She was retired from K-Mart and a member of Whitefield Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband of the home; daughters, Deborah Sue Burretto and Janet R. Gambrell, both of Williamston; sister, Dorothy Owens of Williamston; one grandchild; one great grandchild; and three step-great grandchildren.
Services were held April 28  at Whitefield Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery.
The family is at the home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Rd., Anderson, SC 29621.

SARAH ADAMS COLLINS
Sarah Adams Collins, 49, of Piedmont, died Saturday, April 28, 2012. She was the daughter of Ernest Dewitt (Linda) Adams of the home and Margaret Spearman Freeman of Piedmont.
She was a self-employed truck driver and a veteran of the U.S. Army.
In addition to her parents she is survived by her children, Adam Mattison of Taylors and Rachel Wilson of Williamston; two brothers, Timothy Adams of Simpsonville and Joseph Adams of Greenville; two sisters, Gina Miller of Greer and T. Dean Lofton of Austin, TX; and grandparents, Ruby Adams of Piedmont and Ruth Dyer of Woodruff.
A memorial service was held May 2 in the Chapel of Graceland Mortuary.

DON L. COYLE
Don L. Coyle, 74, of West Pelzer, died April 24, 2012 at Rainey Hospice House.
He was  husband to Marlene Smith Coyle, a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was of the Church of God faith.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, William Joey Coyle; daughter, Sylvia Thompson; brother, Gene A. Coyle; one grandson; and two great-grandchildren.
A graveside service was held April 26 at M.J. Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery.

JEAN LLOYD
Helen Jean Pilgrim Lloyd, 77, of Pendleton, widow of Howard Lloyd, died Monday, April 16, 2012, at her home.
Born in Six Mile, she was a daughter of the late James Albert and Carrie Pilgrim.
Graveside services were held Tuesday at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Anderson.
Family members are at their respective homes.

JOSEPH DELAFOSSE
Joseph Nibert Delafosse, 80, of Piedmont, husband of Ginger Riley Delafosse, died Friday April 27, 2012 at his home.
Born in Bunkie, LA, he was a son of the late Joe and Susie Delafosse.
He was a retired Gunnery Sergeant in the U. S. Marine Corps, having served in Korea and Vietnam.  He also retired from Reliance Electric Company and was Catholic and attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Lamar Delafosse of Piedmont, sister, Anna Bell Palmer of Tulsa OK, 5 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services with military honors were held Monday April 30, at Greenville Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel.

KENNETH GUY HOLCOMBE
Kenneth Guy Holcombe, 52, of Piedmont, husband of Lynne Batson Holcombe, died Tuesday, April 24, 2012.
Born in Greenville, he was the son of Betty Holcombe and the late Guy J. Holcombe.
He was an Ordained Minister and former Admissions Counselor at North Greenville University. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Easley.
Surviving in addition to his wife and mother are, two daughters, Brittany Hildreth of Greenville, Savannah Holcombe of Piedmont; and sister, Tracy H. Covington of Easley.
Funeral service was April 29 at Easley First Baptist Church. Burial was in Graceland Cemetery West

VERNER EARL NICHOLS
Verner Earl Nichols, 83, husband of Betty Burrell Nichols of Seneca, died Friday, April 27, 2012 at Oconee Medical Center.
She was the son of the late Floyd Jackson and Margie Ella Owens Nichols. He retired from the U.S. Army National Guard and was a member of Bountyland Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughter, Sue Nichols Blackwell of Seneca; sons, Edward Nichols of Clinton, Wayne Nichols of Seneca, Joey Nichols of Westminster, and Steve Nichols of Seneca; brother, Chester Nichols of Walhalla; sisters, Jeanette Burrell of Walhalla and Jo Ellen Stroupe of Piedmont; nine grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one step-greatgrandchild.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 30 at Davenport Funeral Home Chapel, Walhalla. Burial followed in Oconee Memorial Park, Seneca.

‘LORETTA’ ROSE WILLIAMS
BELTON – “Loretta” Rose Williams, 55, of 236 Stevenson Dr. died Sunday, April 29, 2012 at Hospice of the Upstate.
Born in Anderson County, she was the daughter of the late Loretta Faye Williams and the late Floyd Williams and Margaret Williams.
Surviving are: life partner, Floyd Fowler; son, Noah Beasley and wife Alisha of Starr; daughters, Sherry Kell of Anderson, Karen Alewine of Piedmont and Stephanie Tollison of Honea Path; brother, Danny Williams and Lonnie Williams; sisters, Kelly Perrigin and Rachel Tittle; 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Rocky Williams.
Graveside service was held 2pm Wednesday at Belton Cemetery with Dr. Ron Culbertson and Bishop Roger L. Haney officiating. Burial followed.
The family received friends following the service Wednesday at the Cemetery.
The family will be at the residence.

MARGARET KELLY LOCKABY
Margaret Kelly Lockaby, 82, of Pickens, wife of Rev. William J. Lockaby, died Monday, April 30, 2012.
Born in Pelzer, she was a daughter of the late Z.K. Kelly, Sr. and Callie Mae Darity Kelly.
She was a member of Northside Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three sons, Charles Lockaby of Pickens, Steve Lockaby of Greenville, and Rev. Dr. Gene Lockaby of Travelers Rest; six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral service was held Wednesday at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest Chapel. Burial followed in Liberty Memorial Gardens.

LARRY S. EATON
Larry “Steele” Eaton, 74, of Piedmont, died on Monday, April 30, 2012.
Born July 21, 1937 to John and Montine Eaton, he retired from Lucent Technologies and was a member of Waycross Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife Louise, are children, Robin Anderson, Lee Eaton; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.  He is also survived by siblings, Helen Lollis, Betty Parker, Charles, and Joe.
Visitation will be held from 9:30-11 a.m. Thursday, May 3, 2012, at Waycross Baptist Church with funeral services following at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church.
Donations to the church are preferred to flowers.

SAMUEL JOHN GILREATH
CONWAY – Samuel John Gilreath, infant son of John David Gilreath, Jr. and Cindy Carlene Dill Gilreath, died Tuesday, April 24, 2012, at the Medical University of South Carolina.
Surviving in addition to his parents of Conway are two sisters, Annaleah Gilreath and Lillian Gilreath; one brother, Nathaniel Gilreath; maternal grandparents, Jean and Truman Bates of Piedmont, and John Dill of Taylors; paternal grandparents, John, Sr. and Brenda Gilreath of Williamston.
Funeral services were held 2 p.m. April 28 at North Conway Baptist Church with Dr. Jeffrey Gaskins officiating. Burial followed in Hillcrest Cemetery.
The family received friends Saturday at the church.

RUBY HULSEY
Ruby Howard Hulsey, 85, of Piedmont, died on Monday, April 30, 2012 at Hosanna Health and Rehab.
Born in Piedmont, she was the daughter of the late Franklin Lee Howard and Ella Mae James Howard.  She was a homemaker and a member of Piedmont First Baptist Church.
Surviving are son, Reed A. Hulsey, Jr. of Piedmont; daughters, Ann Stephens, Judy Byrd, Becky Higgins, all of Piedmont; six grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held 1-2 pm Thursday, May 3, 2012 at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.
Funeral services will follow at 2 pm in the funeral home chapel with Pastor David Larke officiating.
Burial will be in Greenville Memorial Gardens.
The family is at the home of Ann Stephens, 202 Willow Drive, Piedmont.
