STANLEY ‘BUTCH’ REEVES

Stanley “Butch” Reeves, 60, of Greenville, died Tuesday, August 26, 2014.

Born in Greenville County, he was the son of Cornelia “Connie” Heaton Reeves and the late John Henry Reeves, Sr.

He retired from C and S Wholesale.

Surviving in addition to his mother, are a son, Jeremy Reeves of Cumming, GA; two brothers, John Henry Reeves, Jr. of Pickens and Barry Hugh Reeves of Piedmont; and one grandson.

Graveside services were held Friday, August 29 at Graceland East Memorial Park.

JENNIE DANIELS

Jennie Daniels, 62, of Mauldin, died Saturday, August 23, 2014 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Born in Greenville County, she was the daughter of the late Elizabeth Croft and John Willie Carter.

Surviving in addition to her husband, James Daniels of the home are: daughters, Latisha Daniels of Mauldin, Tiffanie Daniels of Piedmont; son, Maurice Daniels of Greenville; sisters, Queen Black of Simpsonville, Ellen Mangle of Piedmont; brothers, Willie James Carter of Greenville; three grandchildren.

Funeral service was held Saturday, August 30 at Valley Brook Outreach Baptist Church. Burial followed in Greenville Memorial Gardens.

KENNY BERGEN

Kenneth David Bergen, 69, husband of Mary Mitchell Bergen, died Saturday, August 30, 2014.

Born in Rush County, IN, he was a son of the late Letha Cooksy Bergen and Robert Harold Bergen. He was a mechanic, member of Liberty Ministries Church, and attended Pelzer Church of God.

In addition to his wife, survivors include daughter, Tammy Bergen of Bon Aqua, TN; sons Doyle Bergen of Rushville, IN, Michael and Billy Bergen of Dayton, OH; John, David, and Clyde Bergen, all of Williamston; brothers, Albert, Dale, Robert Thomas, and Clarence Bergen; sisters Thelma Allen, Tressie Boulware and Valetta Shook; twenty-one grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

The funeral was held Tuesday at the Gray Mortuary chapel. Memorial gifts may be made to the family to assist with funeral expenses.

DORA LEE COWART LEGG

Dora Lee Cowart Legg, 76, of Piedmont died Saturday, August 30, 2014.

Born in Piedmont, she was a daughter of the late J. H. and Gaynell Cowart. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Williamston.

Survivors include sons, Joey Legg, Jr. of Piedmont, Andy Legg of Greenville; daughter, Tina Legg of Piedmont; brother, Jim Cowart; two grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

A graveside service was held Tuesday, Sept. 2  at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

BOBBY WAYNE WOOD

Bobby Wayne Wood, 65, of Pelzer, passed away Friday, August 29, 2014.

Born in Oconee County, he was a son of the late Raymond Nokomis and Josie Gertrude Davis Wood.

He served his country as a U.S. Marine, and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was employed with John D. Hollingsworth on Wheels for 47 years.

Surviving are four daughters, Ruth Ellen Wood LeRoy, and husband, Jason, of Piedmont, Patricia Maxine Wood Graettinger, and husband, Korey, of Anderson, Julie Monday Wood Keys, and husband, Randy, of Belton, and Jessica Tylie Wood Gibson, of Simpsonville; two sisters, Joann Wood Rollins, of Six Mile, and Betty Wood Smith, of Norris; one brother, Bill Lane, of Covington, GA; seven grandchildren, Garrett Richard Graettinger, Olivia Anne Gibson, Laney Monday Keys, Caroline Wood Keys, Isaac Calhoun Keys, Logan Hulan Gibson, and Josie Evalia LeRoy.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Roger Gary Wood.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 2, 2014 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. The Funeral Service will take place on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. in the Downtown Chapel of Thomas McAfee, followed by the Burial Service at M.J. “Dolly” Cooper Veteran Cemetery.

WILLIAM T. ‘DUB’ KELLETT

William Tensie “Dub” Kellett, 83, husband of Thelma Watt Kellett, died Monday, September 1, 2014.

Born in Greenville County, he was a son of the late Thomas Cleveland and Gertrude Chastain Kellett.

He retired from the beverage industry, was a member of Salem Baptist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Surviving in addition to his wife are daughters, Diane Casey of Pelzer, Debbie Sheriff of Seneca; son, Robert Kellett of Anderson; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren; sister, Phoebe Smith; and a brother, John Kellett.

Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. on Friday at Salem Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Greenville Memorial Gardens.

JOSEPH MITCHELL

Joseph Dewey Mitchell, 87, widower of Helen Marie Alverson Mitchell, died Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at his home.

Born in Greenville County, he was the son of the late Guy and Viola Barnette Mitchell.

He retired from Cryovac W.R. Grace, was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and Korea.

Surviving are daughte, Greta McIntyre of Pelzer; son, Joseph M. Mitchell of Belton; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 2-3 p.m. Thursday at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.

Funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

SARAH JANE BRIDWELL

Sarah Jane Bridwell, 83, of Piedmont, died Monday, September 1, 2014.

She is survived by her sons, Billy Dean Williams and Michael Lynn Williams; and two grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Thursday, September 4 from 4-6 p.m. at The Palmetto Mortuary.

Funeral service will be held Friday, Sept. 5 at 1:30 p.m. at  The Palmetto Mortuary.
