FLORENCE ESKEW

Florence James Eskew, 87, of Pelzer, wife of the late Furman Henry Eskew, Jr., died Tuesday, March 1, 2016.

Born in Williamston, she was a daughter of the late Charlie Otis James and Bessie Mae Hopkins King. She retired from Celanese in Greenville. She was a member of Washington Baptist Church.

She is survived by son, Steve Eskew of Pelzer; sister, Carolyn King of Pelzer; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren.

The service was held Friday, March 4 at Washington Baptist Church.

Burial followed in the church cemetery.

MARGARITE T. CHAPMAN

Margarite T. Chapman, 91, of Pelzer, died Sunday, February 28, 2016 at AnMed Health Center.

Funeral service was held Friday, March 4 at the Shady Grove Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

WILLENE BRADY

Willene Phillips Brady, 80, of Greenville, widow of Ralph Brady, Jr., died Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at her home.

Born in Alabama, she was a daughter of the late William Howard and Beulah Faye Smith Phillips.  She was formerly employed with B.P. Amoco.

Survivors include son, Ken Brady of Piedmont; four grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was held Sunday, March 6, in the funeral home chapel of Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. Burial followed at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

‘LIB’ GILREATH

PIEDMONT – Sarah Elizabeth “Lib” Nelson Gilreath, 84, widow of Billy Joe Gilreath, passed away Thursday, March 03, 2016 at her home.

Born in Belton, she was a daughter of the late Clarence and Cecil Coker Nelson.  She was retired from the Greenville County School System.

Survivors include daughter, Jo Beth Gilreath and son, John Gilreath, both of the home.

She was predeceased by brothers, Jimmy and Tommy Nelson; sister, Peggy Dake.

She was the last member of her immediate family.

Visitation was from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. on Friday, March 4, at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.

A graveside service was held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, March 5, at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

CARLTON COOPER

Carlton Lee Cooper, 75, of Pelzer, husband of Mary Ann Billingsly Cooper, died Saturday, March 5, 2016.

Born in Reidsville, NC, he was the son of the late Dixie and Pauline Moore Cooper.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughter, Angie C. Holbrooks of Piedmont; son, Danny Cooper of Simpsonville; six grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

A graveside service was held Tuesday, March 8  at Pine Lawn Cemetery.

DAVID HOOPER

Charles David Hooper, 75, of Pelzer, husband of Ola Jane Cooper Hooper, died Friday, March 4, 2016.

Born in Greenville, he was the son of the late W. J. and Evelyn McClain Hooper. He was retired from the Kendall Company.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters, Tammy Diane Glasby of Pelzer, Lisa Jane Hooper of the home; son, Michael David Hooper of the home; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

A private burial will be held at Pine Lawn Cemetery.

PERRY STRICKLAND

Perry Martin Strickland, 71, of Williamston, died Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at his home.

He was the son of the late Raymond and Ellen Strickland.

He is survived by his wife, Pat of the home; three children, Angie Wilson, Jeff Strickland, and Amy McAlister; and five grandchildren.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, March 5 at Williamston Church of God.

DELMA BRACKEN FULLER

PELZER—Delma Bessie Miller Bracken Fuller, 86, widow of the late Clyde Fuller, went to be with the Lord Saturday, March 5, 2016.

She was twice married, first to the late Billy Bracken.

Born in Greeneville, TN, she was the daughter of the late Cleo and Catherine O’Shields Miller. She retired from Haynesworth Mill and was a member of Bethel Church of God of Abrahamic Faith. Following retirement, she provided childcare in her home.

Surviving are daughters, Dot Tyndall of Pelzer, Kathy Holliday of Belton; sons, Jackie Bracken (Janett) of Honea Path, Donald Bracken (Kelly) of Honea Path; step-children, Ronnie Fuller (Kathy), Brenda Turner (Tank), Larry Fuller, all of Greer; eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by great-grandson, Dakota Hammonds.

The family wishes to express special thanks to her caregiver, Mitzi Fields.

Visitation was held Monday, March 7, from 1:30 – 2:30 p.m. at the Bethel Church of God of Abrahamic Faith. The funeral followed at 2:30. Burial was held at the church cemetery.

BRENDA CENTER

Brenda Charlene Snead Center, 69, of Piedmont, widow of Larry Center, died Saturday, March 5, 2016.

Born in Greenville, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Penny Lee Williams Snead. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include, children, Betty Ann Smith and Angela Carney of Piedmont, Freddy Center of Clinton, Dawn Prince of FL, Charlie Center of Greenville; sisters, Barbara Burgess of Spartanburg, Martha Allison of Piedmont; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild.

A memorial service was held Wednesday, March 9 in the Chapel of Gray Mortuary.

CORNELIA ‘BEA’ PARKER

Cornelia Beatrice “Bea” Nimmons Parker, 83, of Pendleton, died Saturday, March 5, 2016 at the Rainey Hospice House.

Born in Anderson, she was the daughter of the late Clayton Nimmons and the late Fannie Sue Fennell Nimmons.

She is survived by her children, Franklin C. Parker, Jr of Pelzer, Gail Roper of Pendleton; nine grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Franklin C. Parker, Sr.

Funeral service was held Monday, March 7 in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home. Interment followed at New Silver Brook Cemetery.

WILLIAM T. ANTHONY

William Thurman Anthony, 80, of Easley, died Saturday, March 5, 2016 at Spring Park Senior Living.

He is survived by his wife, Vera Harrison Anthony.

Born in Kershaw, he was the son of the late Ethel King and William G. Anthony.

He retired from the Greenville Police Department.

He was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two children, Pamela Anthony of Piedmont, Mark Anthony of Lexington; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rita Brooks of North Augusta and Helen Anthony of Greenville; four brothers, George Anthony of Garden City, Kenneth Anthony of Montgomery, AL, Randolph Anthony of Easley, and  Jack Anthony of Greenville.

Memorials may be made to Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, 1623 Hester Store Rd., Easley, SC 29640.

Funeral service was held Monday, March 7 at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. Burial followed in Graceland Cemetery West.

HAROLD ‘BOBCAT’ ALLEN

PELZER – Charlie Harold “Bobcat” Allen, Jr., 65, husband of Faye O’Quinn Allen, passed away Monday, March 7, 2016.

Born in Pelzer, he was the son of the late Charlie Harold Allen, Sr. and Pauline Annie Hollingsworth Allen. He retired from Utilities Construction Company in Carrolton, GA. He was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, Pelzer and Hiram Masonic Lodge, Anderson.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by son Josh Allen (Carrie) of Fountain Inn; sisters, Mildred Howard of Piedmont and Nancy Merritt (David) of Piedmont; nieces, Jean Nelson and Lynn Helms; nephew, David “Moochie” Merritt.

He was predeceased by brother-in-law, Frank Howard.

No services at this time.

KAYLA MANN

Kayla Lee Mann, 21, of Piedmont, died Sunday, March 6, 2016.

Born in Greenville, she was the daughter of Scott and Teresa Moore Mann.  She was employed with Ingles in Powdersville.

Surviving in addition to her parents of Piedmont are twin brother, Kevin Mann of Piedmont; grandparents, Pattie Mann of Piedmont, Larry D. Moore (Margaret) of Piedmont.

A memorial service will be held Friday, March 11 at 3 p.m. at Mt. Springs Baptist Church with visitation following at the church.

The family is at the home of Pattie Mann, 200 Elrod Rd., Piedmont.

HENRIETTA WHITMIRE GAMBLE

Henrietta Whitmire Gamble, 79, of Simpsonville, died March 3, 2016 at Greenville Health System.

Born in Spartanburg, she was the daughter of the late Ulysess S. and RosaLee Pressley Whitmire.

She is survived by daughter, Simona Gamble of Florence; one grandson; sister, Emma Sue Fee of Piedmont; and brothers, Andrew Ulysess Whitmire of Amityville, NY, Clarence Whitmire of Greenville, and Samuel Whitmire of Newport, RI.

Funeral service was held Wednesday, March 9 with burial in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.

DANIELLE MEGAN WILLIAMS

Danielle Megan Williams, 17, of Liberty, died Sunday, March 6, 2016.

Born in Greenville, she was a daughter of James “Jimbo” Floyd Jr. and Tracey Lynn Craig Williams.

She was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church and a senior at Wren High School and Anderson Career & Technology Center.

Surviving in addition to her parents, are grandparents, Jimmy and Linda Williams, and David and Christina Craig.

Visitation will be held Thursday, March 10 from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest. Funeral service will be held Friday, March 11 at Oak Grove Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
