Kathy Franklin

Piedmont – Kathy Ledford Franklin of Piedmont, 65, wife of Robert Lynn Franklin, passed away Friday, March 4, 2022.

She was married previously to the late Roger Dale Ledford.

Born in Greenville, she was a daughter of the late Clarence and Sarah Emma Williams Garrett. she was a homemaker and a member of Tabernacle of Faith in Piedmont.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Frankie Prince of Greenville, Robert Franklin, II of Gray Court, Charity Phillips of San Antonio, TX, Koley Ledford of Simpsonville, and Thomas Franklin of Piedmont; sisters, Evelyn Nesbitt of Porterdale, GA, Linda Weisner of Pelzer, Shirley Knight of Honea Path, Barbara Morgan of Piedmont, Jean Moulder of Ninety Six, Vickie Wardlaw of Piedmont; fourteen grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Visitation will be held Thursday, March 10, from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Tabernacle of Faith in Piedmont, with a memorial service to follow at 6:00 p.m.

Piedmont – Clayton Doyle Jones, Jr., 78, husband of Betty Jean Langley Jones, passed away Monday, March 7, 2022.

   Born in Oconee County, he was a son of the late Clayton Doyle Jones, Sr. and Elizabeth Moody Jones. A veteran of the U.S. Army Reserves, he retired from Cryovac following thirty-eight years of service, was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church and enjoyed researching genealogy.

   In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, Clayton Doyle Jones, III (Michelle) of Pelzer and Steven Eugene Jones (Cheryl) of Easley; brother, Larry Clark Jones (Jerline) of Pickens; niece, Wanda Pointer (Michael) of Coldwater, AL; nephew, Dennis Langley (Gerri) of Anniston, AL; seven grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

   Visitation will be held Thursday, March 10, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Gray Mortuary. The funeral will follow at noon in the chapel, with burial at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

Felton “Ray” Alewine 

Williamston-Felton “Ray” Alewine, 65, resident of Harper St., died Saturday March 5, 2022 at AnMed Health Medical Center.

Born on April 19, 1956 in Greenville County to the late Felton Berry and Ruth Waters Alewine, he was a doffer at Kendal Mill for many years.

He attended Donalds Church of God.

Surviving are his son, Christopher Ray Alewine of Belton; his sisters, Margie Alewine Williams and husband Ronald of Williamston, Janie Alewine Hammett of Pelzer, and Shirley Alewine Vinson and husband Wilton of Prattville, AL; 2 grandchildren; 11 nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters, Jennie Spiller, Dorothy Palmer, and Vivian Smith.

Graveside services will be conducted Thursday at 2:00 PM from Forest Lawn Memorial Park with Rev. Jamie Crawford officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

The family is at the home of his sister, Margie Williams, 215 Harper St.

Elizabeth “Lib” Leopard

Williamston – Sara Elizabeth “Lib” Vandiver Leopard, 100, wife of the late George Leopard, Jr., passed away Friday, March 4, 2022.

   Born in Williamston, she was a daughter of the late William Floyd and Lucile Green Vandiver.  She was a homemaker and a lifetime member of Williamston First Baptist Church.

   She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Jones (Earl) of Greenville; and son, Van Leopard (Debbie) of Williamston; grandchildren, Angie McCurley, Donna Yarborough and Daniel Leopard; and great-grandchildren, Stephen McCurley, Lindsay McCurley, Hampton Yarborough, Libby Claire Yarborough, Calhoun Yarborough, EraBoyd Leopard, Cothran Leopard, and Kinard Leopard.

 The last surviving member of her immediate family, she was predeceased by her sister, Mabel Cox; and brothers, William Floyd, Ed, and Wade Vandiver.

   Visitation was held Tuesday, March 8, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Williamston First Baptist Church. The service followed at 12:00 p.m., with burial at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
