Barry Jenkins

Jon Barry Jenkins of Piedmont, 61, husband of Donna Madden Jenkins, passed away, September 13, 2022.

Born in Pelzer, he was the son of the late John Henry Jenkins, Jr. and Bonnie Morgan Jenkins Lindley.  

In addition to his wife, he is survived by son, Jon David Jenkins of Inman; two grandsons; sisters, Diane Jenkins Fant and Kathy Jenkins Barker; nephews, Greg and Mark Fant, and Ray Barker.

The family will receive friends 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. Sunday, September 25, at Augusta Road United Methodist Church with a memorial service following at 3:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Augusta Road United Methodist Church, 8324 Augusta Road, Pelzer, SC 29669.

Brad Davis

Belton – Thomas Bradley “Brad”  Davis, 47, of Dean Springs Circle, Belton, husband of Crystal Pilgrim Davis died Monday, September 12, 2022 at his home.

Born in Greenwood County, he was a son of Tommy Eugene and Cathy McAlister Davis. He was a member of Ware Shoals First Baptist Church and was a veteran of the US Marine Corps. He was a Class of 1993 graduate of Ware Shoals High School.

Surviving are his parents of Ware Shoals, a daughter, Samantha Marie Davis of Anderson, a brother, Bryan Davis (Amy) of Williamston, a grandson, Zander Thomas Davis Craft, a niece, Megan Davis and a nephew, Ryan Davis (Kayleena) and great-niece, Mia Davis.

He was pre-deceased by a sister, Tonja Maria Davis.

Funeral services were held at 2 PM on Friday, September 16, 2022 at Ware Shoals First Baptist Church with Rev. Leon Jones and Mr. Bryan Davis officiating. Burial following in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

Tommy Cothran

Belton – Thomas Arabian Cothran, III, 72, beloved husband of Carol Jean Elgin Cothran, of Beeks Road, died Sunday, September 18, 2022 at AnMed Health Medical Center.

Born in Belton, he was a son of the late Thomas Arabian, Jr., and Dorothy Rutledge Cothran. He was a member of Cedar Shoals Baptist Church and a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a former home builder and co-owner of Cothran’s Military Surplus. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, telling stories, spending time with his customers and family and went out of his way to help others.

Surviving in addition to his wife of 50 years of the home are: his children, Tammy (Steve) Vaughn, Tommy Cothran, IV, Scotty (Wendy) Cothran, Mandi (Jeff) Clark, Ashley (Nathan) Oakley, and Jesse (Melissa) Cothran; his grandchildren, HollyAnna Christian Vaughn, Jessica (Kobe) Baxley, Madalynn Vaughn, Ashlynn Vaughn, Katie (Zach) Greer, Dawson Cothran, Jordan (Kimlyn) Cothran, Stephanie (Chase) Singleton, Allison Clark, Caitlynn Clark, Lilli Oakley, Merrin Oakley, Skyler Cothran, and Willow Cothran; three great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Baxley, Kruz Cothran, and Cullen Singleton; his siblings, Michael (JoAnn) Cothran, Jerry (Sharon) Cothran, Gary Cothran, Douglas Cothran, Donna (Billy) Campbell, Vicki (Alan) Coker, Yvonne (Greg) Darnell, and Joann (Gene) Yates; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services were held at 1 P.M. Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at Pruitt Funeral Home with Rev. Stan Candler officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Garden of Memories.

Jewell Smith

 Jewell Dean Smith of Piedmont, 84, husband of Claudia Mae Cogsdill Smith, passed away Monday, September 19, at his home.

Born in Piedmont, he was a son of the late Clarence Ashmore Smith and Ida Mae Hughey Burgess. A U.S. Navy veteran, he retired from J.P. Stevens Estes Plant and Greenville County Solid Waste.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by children, Ronald Eugene Smith of Piedmont, Deidre Ivie of Piedmont, and Tammy Schaefer of Anderson; stepchildren, Billy McAbee of Jacksonville, FL, Jane Griffin of Jacksonville, FL, Chris Cothran of Clinton, and Lora Burgess of Piedmont; eight grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and ten step-great-grandchildren.

 The family will receive friends from 1:30 – 2:30 p.m. Friday, September 23, at Gray Mortuary. A graveside service will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

Williamston – Donna Irene Ziebell Thies, 92, widow of Edward John Thies, passed away Friday, September 16, 2022.

   She was twice married, first to the late Herman Preuss.

   Born in La Crosse, WI, she was a daughter of the late Kurt John and Irene Graff Ziebell.  She was a former CNA and a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church.

Survivors include daughter, Catherine Irene Short (John) of Gaines, MI; sons, David Arthur Preuss (Maureen) of Casselberry, FL, Kurt William Preuss (Barbara Jane) of Williamston, Mark Steven Preuss (Brenda) of St. Helen, MI; brother, Michael Ziebell of Humble, TX; sister, Carol Clement of Kalamazoo, MI; 10 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 21, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Gray Mortuary, with the service to follow at 2:00 p.m. in the mortuary chapel.
