Filing now open for various offices

The Anderson County Voter Registration and Elections Office is now accepting candidate filing for nonpartisan offices to be elected in the November 6, 2012 General Election.

Seats are open on the Anderson County Board of Education, Anderson School Trustees, Homeland Park Water District Commissioners, Piedmont Public Service District Commissioners, and Watershed Conservation Districts Commissioners. There are no filing fees for these offices.

At the time of filing, candidates must bring with them their complete copy of the Statement of Economic Interest (SEI form) that was filed online with the State Ethics Commission. Candidates with questions concerning the SEI form may contact the State Ethics Commission. Candidates will also be required to complete a Statement of Candidacy Form.

The deadline for filing is August 15 at 12:00 noon. The Anderson County Voter Registration and Elections office is located at 107 S. Main Street, Room 101. Office hours are 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. For information call 864-260-4035.

Seats to fill on the County Board of Education include Districts 2, 7, 8, 9

Anderson County School Trustee seats include:

School District 1,Areas 2, 3, 6; School District 2, Area 2 (2 seats to fill); School District 3, Areas 2, 3; School District 4, Areas 1, 3 and School District 5, Areas 1, 3, 4, 7, and At-large.

Piedmont Public Service District Commission has two seats to fill. Homeland Park Water & Sewer District Commission has two seats to fill.

Watershed Conservation District Commission in Anderson County include: Big Creek Watershed, 2 seats and Broadmouth Creek Watershed, 3 seats .

Watershed Conservation District Commission for Multi-County area will file with the State Election Commission in Columbia. This includes: Brushy Creek, two seats and Three & Twenty, three seats.
