Jackie Bridges

Jackie Earl Bridges of Pelzer, 67, passed away Monday, January 15, 2024.

Born in Anderson, he was a son of Betty Lou Staggs Bridges of the home and of the late Ellis “8 ball” Bridges. He was formerly employed with D & C Fire Protection.

   In addition to his mother, he is survived by daughter, Jennifer Bridges Smith of the home; brothers, Randy “Tody” Bridges and Larry Bridge, both of Williamston; sister, Debbie Bridges Branyon of Williamston; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Friday, January 19, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.

Linda Weisner

Linda Gail Garrett Weisner of Pelzer, 80, wife of Allen “Al” Harley Weisner, passed away Sunday, January 14, 2024, at her home.

   Born in Piedmont, she was a daughter of the late Clarence and Sarah Emma Williams Garrett. She was formerly employed with New Hope Daycare and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church.

   In addition to her husband, she is survived by children, Randy Weisner of Manchester, OH, Rodney Weisner of Lake Lure, NC, and Sonya Pack of Williamston; five grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, sisters, Evelyn Nesbitt of Porterdale, GA, Shirley Knight of Honea Path, Barbara Morgan of Piedmont, and Jean Moulder of Ninety-Six.

The family will receive friends 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 18, at Graceland East Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel.

  A graveside service will follow at 2:00 p.m.

   In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 123 West Antrim Drive, Greenville, SC 29607.

Rose Marie Cogan-Klimek 

Rose Marie Cogan-Klimek  passed  away peacefully on Nov.  27, 2023.

 Born Nov. 24, 1942  in Allentown , Pa., she was the widow of the late  Donald Joseph Klimek, and was retired  from Ferguson of Greenville, S.C.

She was  a  faithful member of  Faith Presbyterian Church in  Williamston, where she was a  dedicated volunteer  in the church’s  Food  Bank Ministry.

Rose got great joy from attending the Pelzer Senior Citizens  meetings, and Saturday evening services at Joy Fellowship Church in  Piedmont.

Rose’s church family, fellow  Senior Citizens members, and many friends are invited  to attend the service. 

Memorial services for Rose Cogan-Klimek  will be held at 12:30 this Sunday, January 21 at Faith Presbyterian Church in Williamston.

Laura Mauldin

Williamston – Laura Fay Ellison Mauldin, 77, wife of the late Larry Lee Mauldin, passed away Saturday, January13, 2024.

   Born in the Cheddar Community of Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late William Harold and Ruth Rogers Ellison.  She retired from Kanawha Insurance Company and was a member of Trinity Baptist Tabernacle in Piedmont.

   She is survived by sons, Terry Mauldin of Williamston, Keith Mauldin (Rhonda) of Belton, and David Mauldin (Michelle) of Anderson; siblings, John William Ellison of Honea Path, Sylvia Loskoski, Calvin Ellison (Sherry), Velma Rice (Bill), and Roger Ellison (Elaine) all of Williamston; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

   In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by daughter-in-law, BeLinda Mauldin.

   Visitation was Tuesday, January 16 at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.

   The funeral service will be held Wednesday, January 17, at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Baptist Tabernacle in Piedmont with entombment to follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Anderson.

   In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association-Upstate Chapter Greenville, 123 West Antrim Drive, Greenville SC 29607 or to one’s own home church.

Mildred Leeson

Mildred Marie Anderson Leeson of Pelzer, wife of the late Bernard Lewis Leeson, Sr., passed away Monday, January 15, 2024.

Born in Clarksburg, W.V., she was a daughter of the late Paul William and Lucille Cox Anderson. She retired from Greenville County School District and was a member of Waycross Baptist Church.

She is survived by daughter, Lois Leeson of Anderson; son, Bernie Leeson) of Fair Play; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

A private memorial service will be held.

Jack Brothers

Jack Ansel Brothers of Greenville, 94, husband of Jean Betty Payne Brothers, passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2024.

Born in Greenville, he was a son of the late William Wilkes and Nan Abercrombie Brothers. He retired from Triangle Construction Company.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughter, Brenda Freeman of Pelzer; sister, Virginia Neeley of Greenville; two grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Tammy Nelson

Tammy Johnson Nelson of Pickens, 63, formerly of Belton, passed away Monday, January 8, 2024.

Born in Greenville County, she was a daughter of the late Enoch Audubon “Duby” and Othella Gertrude “Tootsie” Crawford Johnson.

She is survived by a granddaughter, Carissa McAbee.

Jim Estes

James Stevens “Jim” Estes of Pelzer, 81, husband of Jean Godfrey Estes, passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2024.

Born in Greenville, he was a son of the late John Stephens and Nell Sue Campbell Estes. He retired from Applebee’s and was a member of Sandy Springs Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughter, Michelle Estes Lester of Pelzer; daughter-in-law, Laurie Estes of Piedmont; brother, Tom Estes of Greenville; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation was January 16 at Gray Mortuary.

A graveside service will be Wednesday, January 17, at 1:00 p.m. at Greenville Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel.

Chris Wilkie-Barbre

Christina Ann “Chris” Lee Wilkie-Barbre of Piedmont, 71, wife of Charles Duwayne Barbre, passed away Thursday, January 11, 2024.

   She was twice married, first to the late Millard J. Wilkie.

   Born in Greenville, she was a daughter of the late Shirley Madden Lee.  She retired from Sunland Distribution and was a member of Mountain Springs Baptist Church.

   In addition to her husband, she is survived by daughter, Angela Kazimer, and son, David Wilkie of Piedmont; sister, Lisa Ouzts of Piedmont; brother, Butch Lee of Travelers Rest; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

   Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 17, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. 

A private service will be held at a later date.

Mamie Weisner

Mamie Dee Garrison Weisner of Piedmont, 92, wife of the late James Curtis Weisner, Sr., passed away Friday, January 12, 2024.

Born in Piedmont, she was a daughter of the late Billie Walter and Leecy Phillips Garrison. She retired from Procter & Gamble in Greenville and was a member of Piedmont Heights Baptist Church. 

She is survived by her children, Jean Weisner and Jimmy Weisner, both of Piedmont, and Nancy Darnell of Williamston; sister, Sarah Louree Laws of Piedmont and one grandson.

Visitation will be held Friday, January 19, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Gray Mortuary. The funeral will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the mortuary chapel, with burial at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

Keith Holcombe

Terry Keith Holcombe of Williamston, 73, passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2024.

Born in Williamston, he was a son of the late Calvin Edward and Mary Ellen Ellison Holcombe.  He retired from Wells Aluminum in Belton.

He is survived by son, Michael Holcombe of Williamston and daughter, Alice Lindsey of Taylors; brother, Randy Holcombe of Pelzer; sister, Sherrill Harvey of Williamston; six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

A graveside memorial service was held January 16 at White Plains Baptist Church Cemetery.

Lucille Kelly

Maxie Lucille Anderson Kelly of Pelzer, 89, wife of the late J.W. “Jake” Kelly, passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2024.

Born in Gloucester, NC, she was a daughter of the late Colie L. and Mary Maxie McCall Anderson. She retired from J.P. Stevens Estes Plant and was a member of Zion Assembly Church of God.

She is survived by her daughters, Elaine K. Russell, Linda K. Grover, and Rita K. Rhodes, all of Pelzer; sisters, Sara Anderson Phillips and Jane A. Chastain, both of Pelzer; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

A private graveside service will be held.

Jerry Wayne Farrow of Piedmont, 83, husband of Belinda Gail Koon Farrow, passed away Sunday, January 14, 2024.

  Born in Piedmont, he was a son of the late Wilton Edward and Etta Frances Martin Farrow. He retired from Startex Mills, Greer and was a member of Life Church, Piedmont.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters, Wanda Adair of Piedmont, Shea Farrow of Piedmont, Brandy Davalos of Greer, and Tracey Lopez of Anderson; brother Michael Anthony Farrow of Piedmont; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date with family and close friends.
