One injured in Pelzer Shooting; ACSO Detectives make arrest

An Anderson County Deputy works at the scene of a shooting Sunday afternoon. Investigators and Forensics Technicians responded to Ballard Road after a 911 call. One person had been shot in the leg and it was not life threatening according to
Shale Remein with the sheriff’s office. Deputies spent the better part of the afternoon collecting evidence and conducting interviews.

ACSO Detectives make arrest
ACSO Deputies arrested a man following a shooting on Ballard Road in Pelzer that left another man injured in Pelzer. According to reports, deputies responded to Ballard Road Sunday afternoon and learned there was a heated argument between at least three people. The suspect, Robert Jeffrey Hughes, shot toward the victim, grazing his leg, and then continued to shoot into a car with someone inside. The person in the car was not hurt. The victim is facing non-life-threatening injuries.

ACSO Detectives gathered enough witness statements and evidence on scene to make the arrest. Several charges are pending against Hughes.

The case remains under investigation.

Update – Anderson County Sheriff’s Detective have charged Robert Hughes with Felon in Possession of a Firearm and two counts of Discharging a Firearm into an Occupied Vehicle from the incident that took place along Ballard Road Sunday afternoon. He is facing bond court.
