WILLIAM THOMAS “BILLY” JUNKINS

William Thomas “Billy” Junkins, Jr., 55, passed away on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at the home of his mother.

Born in Anderson County, he was the son of Helen Williams Junkins and the late William Thomas Junkins, Sr. He was an avid Clemson fan and of the Presbyterian faith.

Along with his mother, Billy is survived by Susan Raymond, his Sundance; son: Dustin Junkins along with his future daughter in law, Freda Grubbs; brother: R. Christopher Junkins and wife Martha; sister: Jennifer Junkins Silver; Dustin’s mother: Sherri Junkins and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 7 until 9 p.m. at The Howze Mortuary.

Funeral service will be Friday afternoon at 3 p.m. at The Howze Mortuary Chapel.

Burial will be private.

KAREN GERRED
Karen Lee Signor Gerred, 69, of Greenville, died Wednesday, April 30, 2014.
Born in Detroit, Michigan, she was a daughter of the late Frank S. Signor and Eileen Cool Signor.  She was a volunteer with the American Red Cross for many years in Hollywood, FL.
Surviving are siblings, Ben Signor of Williamston, Beverly Curcio of Port St. Lucie, FL, and Kenneth and James Signor.
A personal remembrance service was held at noon on Saturday, May 3  at Gray Mortuary Chapel, Pelzer.
Memorials may be made to Hosanna Health and Rehab Activities Fund, 109 Bentz Rd., Piedmont, SC 29673.

RUTH B. PARRIS
Ruth Irene Blanton Parris, 83, died Saturday, May 3, 2014 at Rocky River Assisted Living in Belton.
Born in Earl, NC, she was a daughter of the late Kenyon A. and Pati Irene Richards Blanton.
She retired from Michelin Tire Company and was a member of Forest Hill Baptist Church.
Surviving are three daughters, Phyllis Kimbrell of Spartanburg, Teresa Ward of Greer, and Lisa Smith of Anderson; sister, Ailene Wilson of Williamston; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
A memorial service was held at the chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home on May 6.

EDNA HOOPER THACKER
Edna Louise Hooper Thacker, 94, of Pelzer, widow of Vester Imanuel Thacker, Sr., died Friday, May 2, 2014 at her home.
Born in Candler, NC, she was a daughter of the late D. W. “Web” and Minnie Wilson Hooper. She was a homemaker and a member of Piedmont Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are sons, Vester I. Thacker, Jr. of Fair Play, and James C. Thacker of Central; daughter, Audrey T. Fowler of Pelzer; four grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; and special family, Barbara and Greg Brockell.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Funeral service was held Monday, May 5 at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. Burial followed at Greenville Memorial Gardens.
The family is at the home.

JACKIE L. ‘BUTCH’ FARROW
Jackie L. “Butch” Farrow, 74, husband of Martha Ward Farrow, died Tuesday, April 29, 2014.
Born in Piedmont, he was the son of the late Harold Ray and Bobbie Evans Farrow.
He was a member of Washington Baptist Church in Pelzer and retired from Fiber Industries and Michelin.
Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are son, Russell Farrow of Rock Hill; sister, Shirley Bryson of Piedmont.
A memorial service was held Thursday, May 1 at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.
A private burial followed.

JERRY CUMMINGS
Pelzer – Jerry Thomas Cummings, 73, went home to be with the love of his life, Connie Fennell Cummings, on Sunday, May 4, 2014.
Born in Williamston, he was a son of the late Ernest Lee and Ruth Pepper Cummings.
He was retired from Century Three and a member of the S.C. National Guard.
Surviving are daughter, Kim Cummings Rice (Paul) of Pelzer; special cousin, Jimmy Dale Pepper of Belton; brothers, Clyde Cummings of Townville, Roger Cummings of Williamston; sister, Peggy Wilson of Spartanburg.
He was predeceased by brother, Michael Lee Cummings and sister, Susie Odom.
Visitation was held from 1:00 – 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.
A graveside service followed the visitation at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery.

WILLIAM EDWIN ‘ED’ JEANES
William Edwin “Ed” Jeanes, 72, of Greenville, husband of Mary Lazette Reece Jeanes, died Monday, April 28, 2014.
Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late William Ellison and Ella R. Leslie Jeanes.
He was a member of The Carpenter’s House and retired from Folz Vending.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Julia “Julie” Godfrey of Greenville; a son, Greg Jeanes of Taylors; one grandson of the home, Austin Reece; two grandchildren; sisters, Frances Bennett of Piedmont and Margaret Getsinger of Anderson; and brother, James “Bud” Jeanes of Inman.
Funeral service was held Friday, May 2 at The Carpenter’s House.

GLADYS NICHOLSON
Gladys Traynham Nicholson, 92, of Pelzer, died Sunday, May 4, 2014.
Born in Greenville County she was a daughter of the late Joe Pelham and Aileen Darby Traynham.
She was co-owner of Star Cleaners in Laurens.
She is survived by three daughters, Catherine N. Bones of Charlotte, NC, Lynn N. Cornett of Laurens, and Aileen N. Ashworth of Greenville; a son, Joe T. Nicholson of Pelzer; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mary T. League and Iris T. Nelson.
Funeral service was held Tuesday, May 6 at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, SE Chapel. A private burial followed in Washington Baptist Church cemetery.

LOUISE A. ROSS-BAIN
PELZER – Louise A. Ross-Bain, 85, of 435 Old Georgia Rd., widow of Cecil Grant Ross-Bain, passed away Sunday, May 4, 2014 in Lithia Springs, GA.
Born in Biarritz, France, she was a daughter of the late Andre and Marie Dupecher.
Surviving are daughters, Michele Rush of Douglasville, GA and Christine Kirby (Bill) of Lithia Springs, GA; son, Jeffrey G. Ross-Bain of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Mindy, Andrew, Michael, Melissa and Jennifer; great-grandchildren, Grant and Griffin.
She was predeceased by sisters, Marie Lou Gerbier and Jeannine Dupecher.
Visitation was held from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.
The funeral service followed at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Aaron Ochart officiating.  Burial was held at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

JAMES WADE HOLLINGSWORTH
1954 – 2014 James Wade Hollingsworth, age 60 of Opelika, was born on March 16, 1954 in Louisiana and died on April 29, 2014 at his home.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Harold L. Hollingsworth. Wade is survived by his wife, Teresa B. Hollingsworth; sons, Rusty and Chad Hollingsworth, both of Williamston; five grandchildren; mother, Julia Clark; four sisters, Barbara Burdette, Becky Scroggs, Debra Scroggs and Donna Hurst.

BETH REID McCOLLUM
Beth Reid McCollum, 86, of Piedmont, wife of the late Fred LeGrand McCollum, died Sunday, May 4, 2014 at her home.
Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late Roy Jefferson Reid, Sr., and the late Eva Moore Reid.
She was a homemaker and was a member of Mountain Springs Baptist Church.
Surviving are her daughter, Ann Page; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and sister, Joan Norton of Piedmont.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at Mountain Springs Baptist Church. Burial followed in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

SHARON MOORE
ANDERSON – Sharon Diane Bowen Moore, 65, passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2014.
Born in Williamston, she was a daughter of the late Ernest and Frances  Bowen.  She was a bookkeeper and a member of Landmark Free Will Baptist Church.
Surviving are sister, Martha Bright, brother, Berry Bowen, granddaughter, Raven  Moore.
She was predeceased by sons, Dennis and Ray Moore.
A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at the Williamston Cemetery
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Landmark Free Will Baptist Church, 128 Camellia Drive, Anderson, SC 29625.
The family will receive friends following the services at the church.

DURANE MORGAN
Rayford Durane Morgan, III, 74, of Pelzer, died Monday, May 5, 2014.
Born in Anderson County, he was the son of the late Rayford Durane Morgan, Jr. and Nettie “Net” Barnes Hawkins Morgan. He and his parents were the original owners of Net’s Flowers. He was a Funeral Home Associate of Gray Mortuary for over thirty years.
Surviving are members of his family, Judy and Larry Bell; Jason Bell; Kelly Simmons  and their children, Morgan Hudders, Andrew and Sara Grace, all of Anderson; Joanne Haynes  and their family of Anderson.
He was the last member of his immediate family.
The funeral will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel of Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
