VERDA POOLE FAYSSOUX

Verda Poole Fayssoux, 100, of Greenville, widow of R. Scott Fayssoux died Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at Greenville Glen.

She retired from the Greenville Hospital System and was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church.

She is survived by five children, Lila Moseley of Piedmont, Morgan Fayssoux of Greenville, Mary Jo Garner of Brevard, NC, Dr. Richard Fayssoux of Yuma, AZ, and James Fayssoux of Greenville; 14 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service was held Friday, September 30 at Woodlawn Memorial Park.

BETTY BUCHANAN

Margie Elizabeth “Betty” Creamer Buchanan, 71, of Anderson, died Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at the Rainey Hospice House.

Born in Anderson, she was the daughter of the late Clarence Dendy and Helen Simmons Creamer of Williamston.

She was a member of Forest Hill Baptist Church and retired from Westside High School.

She is survived by her husband, Richard Earl Buchanan; children, Richard Scott Buchanan of Walhalla and Jennifer Buchanan Kurecka of Arlington, TX; sister, Marian Creamer West of Anderson; and nine grandchildren.

Funeral service was held Sunday, Oct. 2 at The McDougald Funeral Home. Burial followed at M.J. Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.

RICHARD HAROLD BURNETT

Richard Harold Burnett, 70, of Spartanburg, died September 26, 2016 at his home.

Born in Vine Grove, KY, he was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

He is survived  by his son, Richard Allen Burnett of Fountain Inn; daughter, Lesa Burnett Fowler of Pelzer; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Private funeral services were held.

BILLY VINSON

PELZER – Billy Cleveland Vinson, 77, husband of Martha Ann Jones Vinson, passed away Saturday, October 1, 2016.

Born in Greenville County, he was a son of the late Leyron “Bill” and Nettie Lee Wright Vinson.  He was retired from Gerber Childrenswear and a U.S. Army veteran. He was formerly a custodian at Palmetto High School.

In addition to his wife of the home, he is survived by son, Gary Billy Vinson (Paula) of Williamston; Teresa Ann Fowler (Hew) of Williamston; grandchildren, Jessica Ann Durham (Brandon) and Lindsey Kathryn Vinson; great-grandchildren, Brayden Vinson and Peyton Durham.

Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, October 3, at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.

The funeral service was at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the mortuary chapel.  Burial followed at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

Memorials may be made to the Shriners Children’s Hospital, 950 West Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605.

The family is at the home of Teresa Fowler, 204 Hogg Road, Williamston.

BRENDA LUKER

Brenda K. Luker, 64, formerly of Piedmont, widow of Wayne G. Luker, died Friday, September 30, 2016. She was a daughter of the late Joseph World and Helen Hunter Snow.

Survivors include daughters, Traci Maiden of Browns Summit, NC, Amy Cummings  of Easley and Michelle Allen  of Pelzer; sister, Frances Scott; brothers, Donnie and Michael Snow; 11 grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was Tuesday, October 4, in the Chapel of Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.  Burial  followed at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

DR. ROY JAMES ELLISON, JR.

Dr. Roy J. Ellison, Jr., 91, of Easley, died Friday, September 30, 2016.

Born in Spartanburg, he was the son of the late Roy J., Sr. and Belle Stribling Ellison.

He practiced Psychiatry for over fifty years in Greenville.

He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Surviving in addition to his wife are four sons, Roy J. Ellison, III of Kennesaw, GA, Kent H. Ellison of Taylors, Mark S. Ellison of Taylors, and Michael I. Ellison of Powdersville; four daughters, Kathryn Coker of Travelers Rest, Marianne Melin of Lawrenceville, GA, Melissa Cauthen of Fort Mill, and Robyn Ellison of Easley; three brothers, Paul Ellison of Shelby, NC, Jack Ellison of Black Mountain, NC, and Dr. Tommy Ellison of Fort Mill; sister, Virginia Evans of Orangeburg; 24 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Memorial services were held Wednesday, October 5 at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Greenville. A private interment followed in Robinson Memorial Gardens.

LIB GRAHAM

Annie Elizabeth Graham, 77, of West Union, died Thursday, September 29, 2016 at her home.

Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late Leroy McAbee and the late Vivian Landreth McAbee.

She was a member of Bountyland Church of God.

She is survived by her children, Larry Keith Graham, Jr., of LaFrance, Tamy Marie Raleigh of West Union, and Tracy Lynn Abernathy of Westminster; brothers, Edward McAbee of Pelzer, and David McAbee of Newport News, VA; sisters, Ellen Dacus of Pendleton, and Mattie Andrews of Fountain Inn; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Larry Keith Graham, Sr.

Funeral service was held Monday, October 3 in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home. A private burial followed at Welcome Baptist Church Cemetery.

LYNN CARLA COLE

Lynn “Carla” Cole, 50, widow of Ernest Cole of 628 Haynie Mill Rd., Belton, died peacefully Monday, September 26, 2016 at her residence.

Born in Anderson County, she was the daughter of the late John H. Thompson and Lelia Rogers Thompson.

She was a homemaker and a member of Brookwood Baptist Church in Mauldin.

Surviving are sister, Robyn Fowler; nephew, Stephen Smith (Brandie) of Piedmont; great nieces, Tara Brock (William) and Kamara Fowler, all of Belton; great nephew, Chase Fowler of Belton; faithful dog, Duke “Cole”.

Memorial service was held at 4 p.m. Saturday at Cox Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Allman officiating.

The family received friends prior to the service Saturday from 3 p.m. until 4 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shriners Hospital of Greenville.

LAWRENCE WHITMIRE

Lawrence Gregory Whitmire, 89, of Pendleton, husband of the late Ruth M. Whitmire, died Sunday, October 2, 2016.

Born in Piedmont, he was the son of the late Van and Tempie Woodson Whitmire. He was retired from Milliken and founding member of Walker McElmoyle Fire Dept. He was a member of Six and Twenty Baptist Church.

Surviving are children, Diane Guffee of Pendleton, Gale W. Black of Anderson, Dale Whitmire of Pendleton; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and brother, Jerry Whitmire.

Funeral service was held Wednesday at Six and Twenty Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
