Jerry Larry Otis Shirley, 70, of Piedmont, died November 5, 2016 at MUSC in Charleston.

He is survived by his wife, Faye Kinley Shirley and grandson Logan McCall, both of the home; five children, Dee Dee Hanks, Tracey McCall, Dina Sosa, Jeremy Shirley, and Jason Shirley; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; three sisters, Linda Shirley Pierce, Jeanette Shirley Brooks, and Annette Shirley.

He was predeceased by his mother, Leila Blanche Kelley Shirley.

He was former co-owner of Regional Management Corporation.

He was a member of Neals Creek Baptist Church.

Funeral service was held Saturday, November 12 at Neals Creek Baptist Church.

RACHEL FRANCIS VAUGHN BAGWELL

Rachel F. Vaughn Bagwell, 84, of Belton, widow of Ennis T. Bagwell, Jr., died Wednesday, November 9, 2016.

She was the daughter of the late Vernon Freeman and Carrie Lou Gambrell Vaughn.

She retired from Chiquola Mills in Honea Path.

She was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Honea Path.

Surviving are six children, Ennis T. “Buck” Bagwell, III of Belton, Spencer Andrew Bagwell of Anderson, Mary Ann McCullough of Starr, Jean Robinson of Pelzer, Lynda Alewine of Belton, and Denise Jordan of the home; 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday, November 12 at Cox Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed at Garden of Memories.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

DOROTHY COTHRAN

Dorothy Kellett Cothran, 87, of Pelzer, widow of the late Robert Henry Cothran, died on Wednesday, November 9, 2016.

Born in Greenville County, she was a daughter of the late David Alton and Nellie Poole Kellett. She was formerly employed with Model Coats and a housewife. She was a member of Riverside Baptist Church, Belton.

Survivors include son, Robert Wayne Cothran of Fountain Inn; daughter, Denise Cothran Mehany of Simpsonville; brother, David Kellett, Jr. of Pelzer; sisters, Bobbie Boiter of Grovetown, GA and Wilma Lollis of Honea Path; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was held November 13 in the chapel of Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. Burial followed at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

NORA MARTIN CAMPBELL

Nora Vera Parker Martin Campbell, 95, of Honea Path, widow of Harold Campbell, died Thursday, November 10, 2016 at The Maples.

Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late Clyde W. and Flora Keaton Parker. She was a member of Barkers Creek Baptist Church, and retired from Peerless Plant in Belton.

She was twice married, first to the late John Newton Martin.

She is survived by one son, Donnie Campbell of Anderson; one daughter, Lorraine Stewart of Williamston; one sister, Ella Mae Wright of Honea Path; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Sunday, November 13 at Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery in Easley.

REBECCA REED

Rebecca Jane Vermillion Reed, 64, of Starr, died Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at AnMed Health Medical Center.

Born in Williamston, she was the daughter of the late L.G. Vermillion and the late Betty Jane Patterson Vermillion.

She was a U.S. Army veteran and retired from Owens Corning Firberglas. She was of the Baptist faith.

She is survived by two daughters, Leah Reed Reynold and Kelly Reed Brown; four grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

CAROLYN CULBERTSON

Carolyn Elaine Culbertson, 61, of Williamston, died Wednesday, November 9, 2016.

Born in Greenville, she was the daughter of Ellen Ann and Doyle Spearman, and Lester Buell and Barbara Culbertson.

She retired from No Place Like Home.

She is survived by her two sisters, Gail Smith of Williamston; Misty Copeland of Simpsonville; three brothers, Wayne Culbertson and Curtis Culbertson, both of Virginia, and Jody Culbertson of Starr.

Funeral service was held Tuesday, November 15 at The Palmetto Mortuary.

Memorials may be made to the family, care of The Palmetto Mortuary.

JAMES OLIVER

James Robert Oliver, 91, of Piedmont, husband of Evangeline “Vangie” Knox Oliver, died Sunday, November 13, 2016 at his home.

Born in Pickens County, he was a son of the late Ruben Creighton and Nora Chapman Oliver. He was retired from J.P. Stevens Estes Plant, a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church and a U.S. Army WWII veteran.

In addition to his wife of the home, he is survived by daughters, Darlene Peden, Dianne Young, Donna Thomas, all of Piedmont; son, Danny Oliver of Pelzer; eight grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service was held Wednesday, November 16, at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

JOHNNY SCARBOROUGH, SR.

Johnny Lee Scarborough, Sr., 68, of Anderson, died Saturday, November 12, 2016 at AnMed Health Medical Center.

Born in Anderson, he was the son of the late Paul G. Scarborough and the late Lillie M. Bass Scarborough.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and retired from Michelin.

He is survived by his children, Johnny Lee Scarborough, Jr. of Iva, Melissa Hofmeister of Pelzer, and Jillian Scarborough of Belton; sister, Ann Sutherland of Anderson; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral service  will be held on Thursday, November 17 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

DENNIE KEVIN COLE

Dennie Kevin Cole, 48, of Piedmont, died Sunday, November 13, 2016 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

He was the son of Jackie Cole-Gagner of Greenville and the late Dennie Clifford Cole.

He was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by one son, Kiel Cole of Simpsonville; daughter, Dominique Harvey of Piedmont; three brothers, Chris Cole of Athens, TX, Mike White of Woodruff, and Mike Miller of Piedmont; two sisters, Colleen Custer of Easley, and Amy Morrow of Taylors; and 11 grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 17 at 5 Point Church, 1600 East Main Street in Easley. Interment will follow at Graceland West Memorial Gardens in Greenville.

TOM WHITE, SR.

Thomas Martin White Sr., 72, of Greenville, husband of Judy K. Wassenaar White, died Tuesday, November 15, 2016.

Born in Greenville County, he was the son of the late Broadus Clyde and Ruth Traynham White. He retired from Honeymoon Paper Products in Powdersville and was a member of Washington Baptist Church. He was also a U.S. Air Force Veteran.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by children, Patricia K. Smith of Powdersville, Thomas M. White II of Greensboro, NC, Rebecca R. Smallwood of Gray Court; sisters, Ruth Ellen Thurston and Delottie Smallwood; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 am Saturday, November 19, at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. The funeral will follow at 11:00 in the mortuary chapel with burial at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

MILES RICHARD FULMER

Miles Richard Fulmer, 96, of Greenville, widower of Lois Ann Henderson Fulmer, died Monday, November 14, 2016.

Born in Columbia, he was the son of the late Richard Albert and Fannie Ellen Lake Fulmer.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and retired from the U.S. Postal Service.

He was a charter member of Francis Asbury United Methodist Church.

Surviving are two daughters, Becky Fuduric of Greenville, and Sylvia Howard of Powdersville; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and sisters, Lena Smith and Sara Allison, both of Greenville.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Nov. 17 at 1 p.m. at Francis Asbury United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial  Park.

REV. JOEL P. JENKINS, SR.

Rev. Joel P. Jenkins, Sr., 90, of Piedmont, husband of Joyce Culbertson Jenkins, died Sunday, November 13, 2016.

Born in Greenville, he was a son of the late Rev. J.H. and Mary Ellison Jenkins and step son of the late Annie Coker Jenkins.

He was a member of Easley First Baptist Church and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

He pastored churches in SC and NC.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Jane Harrison and June Jenkins McCool; one son, Dr. Joel Jenkins; one sister, Frances Phillips; three brothers, Harold, Jimmy, and Mike Jenkins; eight grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Friday, Nov. 18 from 12 noon until 1:45 p.m. at Easley First Baptist Church. Funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. Burial will be held in Greenville Memorial Gardens.
