EDNA LEE SIMPSON BRYANT

WILLIAMSTON, SC – Edna Lee Simpson Bryant, 90, died Friday, April 19, 2019 at her residence.

Born in Greenville County, she was the daughter of the late Edgar and Parrie Chapman Simpson. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Pelzer.

Surviving are: daughters, Martha Garton, and Jane McClain (Mitchell) all of Williamston; brother, Ed Simpson (Mary) of VA; grandchildren: John McClain (Celeste), Matt Turner, Leslie Webb, Julie James, and Lisa Blesi; 10 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Pete Simpson; granddaughter, Lauren Ashley Webb, and son in law, Jackie Garton.

Service was held at 3pm Sunday at First Baptist Church of Pelzer with Rev. Barry Garrett officiating. Burial followed at Washington Baptist Church Cemetery of Pelzer.

The family received  friends prior to the service Sunday at the church from 2pm until 2:45pm.

Flowers are optional or memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Pelzer at 6 Reed St. Pelzer, SC 29669.

The family will be at the residence.

Mitchell, Jane, and family would like to thank the caregivers, Becky, and Tina for their kindness, care, and love that they have shown for “Ms. Shorty” during her illness. They are definitely angels here on earth. They would also like to thank Samantha for the love and care she has shown to “Ms. Shorty”.

JANICE MONROE

Janice Carolyn Smith Monroe, 78, of Piedmont, wife of the late Nurell Monroe, died Saturday, April 20, 2019.

Born in Ware Shoals, she was a daughter of the late Rally Walker and Lila Mae South Smith. She formerly worked for Cushman Mill and was a member of Emmanuel Full Gospel Tabernacle.

Survivors include her daughter, Kay Eaton; sons, Greg, Ricky, Jimmy, and Johnny Bryson, all of Piedmont; sisters, Shelby Varney of Columbia, and Pat Strickland of West Pelzer; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a brother, Bobby Joe Smith.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 25, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Emmanuel Full Gospel Tabernacle. The service will follow at 2:00, with burial at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

LITTLE MISS LOVEVENA THEMA WILLIAMS

The Unity Mortuary of Williamston announced that family and friends gathered Tuesday, April 23, 2019 to celebrate the life of Lovevena Thema Williams at Roosevelt Thompson Memorial Chapel 110 N. Hamilton Street, Williamston, with interment following in Forest Lawn Memorial Park 2609 US 29 Anderson, SC. The family is at 103 Lighthouse Dr. Williamston.

BRITTANY ALEXANDER

Brittany Danielle Alexander, 19, of Williamston, died Monday, April 15, 2019.

Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of Jason Williamson of Anderson and Felicia Leann Alexander of the home. She was formerly employed with Subway of Piedmont.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by grandfather, John Ingram of the home; sisters, Hanna Alexander of Williamston, Haley McCollum of Starr-Iva and Taylor Dean of the home.

A graveside service was held Monday, April 22, at Pine Lawn Cemetery.

RONALD TODD

Ronald Dean Todd, 60, of Williamston, died Monday, April 15, 2019.

Born in Southport, NC, he was a son of the late Lee and Thelma Noble Todd. He formerly worked for Summit Builders.

Survivors include son, Ronald Anthony Todd; his former wife, Joanne Tollison Todd; nine brothers; two sisters; three grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Funeral service was held Friday, April 19, at Mintz Cemetery in Ocean Isle, NC.

MARGARET HIOTT

Margaret Frances Owens Hiott, 95, of Pelzer, wife of the late Ralph Maxwell Hiott, died Wednesday, April 17, 2019.

Born in Pelzer, she was a daughter of the late Millard Fillmore Owens and Bessie Jane Clardy Owens Smith. She retired from Mount Vernon Mills and was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include her son, Phil Hiott of Pelzer; five grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

A graveside service was held Monday, April 22, at Beaverdam Baptist Church Cemetery.

LEWIS REID

Lewis Reid, 82, of Pelzer, died on Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at his home.

Born on June 17, 1936, he was the son of the late Charlie and Beatrice Reid and the husband to Darlene Martin Reid. He was a member of Beaverdam Baptist Church and retired from the National Guard.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter: Nancy Reid Gresham; sister: Virginia Ellis; and two  granddaughters.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, April 20, at Beaverdam Baptist Church.

JAMES ‘DON’ COLEMAN

James “Don” Donald Coleman, 71, of Williamston, died on Tuesday, April 17, 2019.

Born in Travelers Rest, he was the son of the late T.J. and Edna Forrester Coleman. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was retired from General Electric.

He is survived by his daughter, Lisa McIntosh, of Greenville; a grandson; and a sister, Ann Coleman, of Fountain Inn.

Funeral service was held Saturday, April 20 at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest Chapel.Burial followed in Mountainview Memorial Park in Travelers Rest.

WAYNE E. ASHMORE

Wayne Ashmore, 78, of Piedmont, died on Wednesday, April 17, 2019.

A Funeral Service was held on Saturday, April 20, 2019 in the Cannon Funeral Home Chapel. The family received friends starting at 1:00 pm.

ARLIS TUCKER

Arlis Lloyd Tucker, 83, of Williamston, husband of Eunice Bryant Tucker, died Sunday, April 21, 2019.

Born in Greenville, he was a son of the late Calvin Bert and Ossie Ree Tuggle Tucker. A U.S. Army Veteran, he retired from J.P. Stevens, Ellis Plant.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Brenda Ballew, Kathryn Swaney, and Barbara Blakely, all of Williamston; brother, Paul Tucker of Greenville; eight grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, April 25, at 10:00 a.m. at M.J. “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service at the home of Barbara Blakely, 4 Newthorn Court, Williamston, SC 29697.

NELLIE ‘NELL’ BAGWELL BELL

Nellie “Nell” Bagwell Bell, 79, widow of James Lee Bell, of Greenville, died Sunday, April 21, 2019.

Born in Pelzer, she was the last living child of the late Jack Blease and Ollie Millwood Bagwell.

She was a member of Zion Assembly Church of God.

The graveside service was held Wednesday, April 24 at Woodlawn Memorial Park.

REBEKAH FAYE SMITH

Rebekah Faye Smith, 82, of Piedmont, died Wednesday, April 17, 2019.

Born in Georgia, she was a daughter of the late James Thomas and Hilda Ayers Ford.

She was a member of Earle Street Baptist Church. She retired from Ethox Chemicals.

She is survived by a daughter, Tammi S. Knight; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Nancy Humphreys.

The graveside service will be held Saturday, April 27, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Greenville Memorial Gardens.
