LaNika “Nikki” Carson 

LaNika “Nikki” Carson, 44, of Williamston, died at her home on March 12th. She was the daughter of Cynthia Edwards Carson and Delano Carson. She was a graduate of T.L. Hanna High School. 

Funeral services were held March 20th at St. Paul Baptist Church.

Gloria Bell

Gloria Lobelia Smith “Punkin” Bell of Iva, 78, wife of James Luther Bell passed away Friday, March 19, 2021.

   Born in Greenville, she was a daughter of the late Jules Silas Smith and the late Gertrude Annie Davis Craft.  She was retired from Michelin and a member of Iva Church of God of Prophecy.

   In addition to her husband, she is survived by daughter, Susan Bell Miller of Martin, GA; and sons, Wayne Bell of Piedmont and Jerime Bell of Gainesville, GA; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Thursday, March 25, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Emmanuel Full Gospel Tabernacle, with the service to follow at 2:00 p.m.  Burial will be at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

Due to Covid-19, the family requests that masks be worn and social distancing observed.

Ella Jo Wyatt

Williamston – Ella Jo Ledbetter Wyatt, 81, wife of the late Bruce Franklin Wyatt, Jr., passed away Wednesday, March 17, 2021.

Born in Belton, she was a daughter of the late DeWitt Wilson Ledbetter, Sr. and Nellie Bowen Rhoads Ledbetter. A retired elementary school teacher, she taught at schools in Anderson School Districts 5 and 1. She was a member of Beaverdam Baptist Church.

She is survived by son, Frank Wyatt of Simpsonville; daughter, Sheila Evans (Tracey) of Mauldin; daughter-in-law, Sarah Ann Wyatt of Simpsonville; sister, Martha Daniels (Sam) of Easley; brother, Wilson Ledbetter, Jr. (Karon) of Belton; grandchildren, Parker and Matthew Wyatt, Wyatt and Blythe Evans; and special friend, Frank Wyatt of Anderson.

Visitation was held on Sunday, March 21, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Beaverdam Baptist Church. The service followed at 3:00, with burial at the church cemetery.

   Due to Covid-19, the family requests that masks be worn and social distancing observed.

Judy Busby

Belton – Judith “Judy” Ann Bryant Busby, 74, beloved wife of the late Henry Wayne Busby, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, March 20, 2021.

   Born in Anderson County, she was the daughter of the late Walter Lee and Mildred Ann Ellison Bryant. Judy was a graduate of Palmetto High School and Forest College. She was a former member and secretary of Cedar Grove Baptist Church where she served as organist for fifty years. She was currently a member of Eastview Baptist Church, Belton where she served as secretary and organist.

   She is survived by her brother, Gary Lee Bryant, Sr. (Brenda); nephews, Gary Bryant, Jr. (Inga) and Dave Bryant (Evan) all of Belton; niece, Alyson Fricks (Brian) of Piedmont; great-nieces, Halee Vaughn (Keagan), Emma and Lila Fricks, and Sarah Bryant; great-nephews, Gary III, Payton, and Josiah Bryant; sisters-in-law, Nan Erskine (Chris) and Susie Ide; nieces, Ashlyn Wilson (Zackary), Kinsleigh Ashley (Garrett), Madie Grace Erskine; nephew, Jamie Ide; great-nephew, Woodham Wilson; and great-great-nephew, Warren Vaughn. In addition to her loving and devoted family, she had many special cousins and dear friends.

   She was predeceased by beloved daughter, Jill Claire Busby.

   Those who would like to pay their respects may do so Wednesday, March 24, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.

   A celebration of life will be held Thursday, March 25, at 2:00 p.m. at Eastview Baptist Church, Belton, with burial to follow at Cedar Grove Baptist Church cemetery.

Judy Cothran

Judy Jenelle Chapman Spearman Cothran of Honea Path, 59, wife of Douglas Edward Cothran, passed away Friday, March 19, 2021 at her home.

She was previously married to the late William Andrew “Bill” Spearman.

Born in Greenville County, she was a daughter of Mildred Jenelle Hamby Chapman Whitt of Belton and the late John Thomas Chapman.

She attended Cedar Shoals Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband, mother, and step-father, Russell Whitt, she is survived by son, Gregory Scott Bolton of Belton; daughters, Amy Jenelle Dunn of Honea Path and Sara Louise Spearman of the home; step-sons, Grady Cothran and Joseph Cothran, both of Honea Path; sisters, Norma and Margaret Chapman, both of Belton; 11 grandchildren, two of which are being raised in the home.

 A graveside service was March 24 at Greenville Memorial Gardens with visitation following at the graveside.

Jack Franklin-Lee Hunt 

Jack Franklin-Lee Hunt, 18, passed away Friday, March 12, 2021.

Born in Anderson, he was the son of Jamey Lee and Elizabeth Barker Hunt. He was a student at Erskine College where he was on scholarship as a member of the Bass Fishing Team. 

He is survived by his parents, Lee and Beth Hunt; brother, Law Hunt; grandparents, Joel and Jackie Barker and Alfred Hunt, Jr and Jackie Hunt; great-grandmother, Elizabeth Dobbins. 

Funeral services March 16 at Townville Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Dr. Edgar L. Talbert

Dr. Edgar Leland Talbert of Anderson, 70, husband of Emma Marie West Talbert, passed away Friday, March 19, 2021.

   Born on June 20, 1950, in Augusta, GA, he was a son of the late John Nixon and Elizabeth Ann Brown Talbert. 

Dr. Talbert served his family practice residency at Anderson Memorial Hospital from 1976 to 1978. He first practiced in Iva for two years at ISLA Clinic, then opened his own private practice and was a family physician for the next 37 years. 

He was a member of Concord Baptist Church.

 In addition to his wife, he is survived by sister, Libby Cosimano of Ladson.

Visitation was March 22, at Concord Baptist Church, with the service following.

Burial was held on March 23 at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Spartanburg.

Bret Pierce

Kevin Bret Pierce of Belton, 30, passed away Sunday, March 14, 2021.

Born in Anderson, he was the son of Kevin Roger Pierce of Belton and Candy Leigh Sisk Baker (John) of Williamston.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by daughters, Baylee and Anslee Pierce, both of Belton; son, Cain Pierce of Belton; sisters, Brittany Jones, Katlyn Jones, Kaylee Jones, Jada Stacy (Zach), and Emma Pierce; grandparents, Mary Marlene Cheek and Thomas Harrison Scogins.

He was predeceased by grandparents, Gladys Cheek and Sara Francine Scogins.
